Nikolauss | Artist Biography 

There is a specific energy associated with the number 140, and in the modern trance scene, Nikolauss has become its primary architect. 

Hailing from Romania, Nikolauss’s ascent is rooted in a deep-seated respect for the genre’s technical craft. His trajectory has been significantly shaped by a long-standing creative connection with John O’Callaghan. What began as an organic dialogue centered on musical feedback evolved into a pivotal professional bond, with O’Callaghan championing his sound and opening the doors to the Subculture stage. This synergy is best captured in their massive collaborations "Bláithín" and the 2025 anthem "Reflections"—tracks that have become benchmarks for the modern Subculture sound. 

Commonly known as "Mr. 140"—a nickname famously coined by Sean Tyas—Nikolauss has solidified his reputation through a versatile discography that bridges the gap between emotional and driving trance. Beyond his work with O'Callaghan, he has collaborated with some of the genre's most respected figures, including Cold Blue ("Connected"), Johan Gielen ("Sensoji"), and Asteroid ("Saigon"). In 2025, his versatility was further cemented with his debut on John Askew’s VII imprint via the precision tech masterpiece "Follow the Path," signaling a deeper dive into the darker, more industrial side of trance. 

With a discography boasting significant Beatport Top 10 milestones—including hits like "Lifdagar," "Time," "We Are Not Alone," "Bláithín," "Hold On," "Cosmic Breakdown," and "Reflections"—his music is a permanent fixture in the sets of the genre’s titans. He receives consistent, high-level support from Armin van Buuren, John O'Callaghan, Aly & Fila, John Askew, Giuseppe Ottaviani and Paul van Dyk. His presence on elite labels such as Subculture, FSOE, Armada, VII, and GO Music has solidified his reputation as one of the most reliable producers in the scene 

On stage, Nikolauss has transitioned from a local hero at Romania’s massive Untold Festival to a global mainstay. He has spent years commanding respected stages across Europe, Asia, and Australia, including Luminosity Beach Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), Trance Sanctuary and Subculture events. 

2025 marked a definitive new chapter. Now represented worldwide by Music First, Nikolauss has entered a fresh era of global reach, recently highlighted by a landmark tour through East Asia with debut performances in Japan and Taiwan. 

Driven by the same passion that started it all, Nikolauss continues to push the boundaries of the 140 BPM sound, proving exactly why he belongs on the world's biggest stages
