Une émission créée par Kida (@kida-paris) pour Radio Béguin qui vise à explorer les pouvoirs magiques de la downtempo à travers les yeux de plusieurs artistes FLINTA qui l’inspirent.
Avec Lentement, j’espère apporter un peu de douceur et de voyage, et c’est aussi une invitation à ralentir.

Lentement is a podcast series created by Kida for Radio Béguin. It aims at exploring downtempo’s magic powers through the eyes of several FLINTA artists who inspire her.
In Lentement, I hope to bring a little bit of softness and journeying. This podcast is also an invitation to slow down.

What made you fall in love with downtempo?
What first struck me was how sensual downtempo is, and the fact that it grabbed something really deep down within me. I believe that the slow rhythm of downtempo really resonates with me. It gives me space for creativity, to imagine a journey, a story, danse moves. It wakes up my groove in a very grasping way. To me, downtempo is also very deep and I can feel a lot of emotions listening to it, and I love this.


Which emotion or magic spell from downtempo are you exploring in this set and why?
In this set, I explore melancholy and all the emotions that gravitate around it. Downtempo wakes up an inexplicable feeling of sadness within me. It reminds me of how I felt listening to my favourite music as a teen, like Radiohead or Archive. Nowadays I listen to a lot of electronic music, so downtempo allows me to reconnect with this very powerful emotion, like a remedy. Because sad tracks aren’t always welcome in clubs, it’s also a good opportunity for me to express this side of me.
For this set, I chose tracks I love deep down, with quite a few classics. I wanted listeners to discover artists that are too little known in France, despite how magical the music they create is.

Toward the end, there’s a sense of soft release, a quiet that doesn’t scare but soothes. It’s a sonic ritual I’ve gone through myself — and now I’m inviting you in.

About Cotu
COTU was born and raised in the Far East of Russia, but always felt like a Citizen of the Universe. Guided by a deep curiosity and hunger for adventure, he set out on a journey that took him to Thailand—where everything changed.

It was New Year’s Eve 2016 at the SIMIRAM Festival on Koh Phangan, his very first electronic music festival. The dancefloor was a wooden platform suspended above the sea, facing a giant rock where vivid visual projections lit up the night. As the first sunrise of the year began to rise behind the horizon, a magical scene unfolded—beautiful women performed a fire show atop the rock, while a violinist linked up with the DJ, weaving haunting melodies into the beat. In that moment, surrounded by rhythm, light, and connection, COTU felt the true spirit of unity and freedom that lives on the dancefloor. That morning changed everything.

His journey brought him to the United States. It was there, during a difficult chapter of life, that he began DJing—not for fame, but as a form of therapy. The music helped him heal, and now, through every mix he creates, COTU tells a story. Each set is a journey—through emotional landscapes, introspective moods, and moments of ecstatic release.

Since then, he's played coast to coast—from underground warehouse raves in LA and iconic Clinic Wednesdays, to Minimal Effort at the Globe Theater, California's Deseract gatherings, festivals in the Mojave Desert, Bombay Beach,  and the legendary Burning Man Playa (House of Love, Luna Art Crane). He’s even brought his deep, storytelling sets to Do Not Sit On The Furniture, the beloved Florida-born event series.

@Pawas explores contrast and connection on Balance, a two-track EP that highlights his versatility as a producer. “BAYA,” created in Goa with Japanese artist Noriko Shakti, fuses analog synths, tabla, and vocals into a rich blend of dub, house, Detroit, and electronica. “DAYA,” made solo at home in Berlin, is a stripped-down, lo-fi reflection of recent personal transitions. Together, the tracks showcase two distinct energies - brought into harmony through Pawas’ thoughtful, textured sound.
