"Cacalma" is a conscious event, in São Paulo, Brazil, lasting 9 hours, where the ecstatic dance journey takes place while the DJs and musicians in the line up "marry" their sets together... The event begins with a ceremony of cocoa and body activation at 80 bpm, progressing to ecstasy at 150 bpm, gradually returning to 80 bpm until the end of the event. A musical journey where everyone has their role, to make the audience's experience unique and transformative.
I was the first DJ of this 3rd edition, evolving from 90 to 123 bpm, going through some electronic music styles. Put on your headphones so we can feel the vibe of this moment together!

I'm excited to share with you my new single!

About half a year ago, I participated in a retreat with Andrew Holecek, dedicated to Amitabha Buddha. Throughout the retreat, we chanted Amitabha's mantra: Om Ami Dewa Hri, sacred mantra sounds believed to embody the very essence of Amitabha's presence.

One evening, as I stood before the magnificent Great Stupa of Dharmakaya in Colorado, near which the retreat was held, a melody emerged in my mind—as if it had been waiting for the perfect moment to surface. And of course, it fit the mantra seamlessly, almost as if the two were meant to be together. Maybe they have always been, and I was just there at the right time and right place, attentive enough to assist the melody in emerging. 

Fortunately, I had brought along to the meditation retreat some of my portable studio equipment, as I many times do. Inside the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya at Drala Mountain Center —one of the rare few in the world that has entrance—I recorded the guitar, vocals, and the resonant tones of a singing bowl. I believe the sacred space infused its energy into the song, something that I hope comes across in the recording.

A remarkable moment during the recording process left a lasting impression on me. The winds that night were really fierce. The trees around the Stupa were shaking while I was bringing my recording equipment inside at midnight (I did not want to disturb anyone meditating inside so I waited till nightfall). Yet, as soon as I began recording, the wind miraculously ceased—as if nature itself was listening and assisting. It was a moment of stillness and grace that I will never forget. The winds resumed as soon as I was done.

A dear friend of mine and a wonderful musician, Felissia Mae Cappelletti later recorded additional vocals to this Buddhist chant.

The chant opens with the morning prayers I say every morning as part of my morning practice, that comes from the Nyingma Lineage and and concludes with a dedication of merit, both from Mangala Shri Bhtuti's Sangha's liturgy. 

May it add to happiness and the reduction of suffering.

Amitabha Buddha Mantra

The tropical rainy afternoon in Mudra Cafe set the perfect mood for this set—a juicy fusion of downtempo, afro house and amapiano.
