Nile St. James is a 23 year old singer/songwriter from Limerick City, Ireland.
Raised on old-school soul/funk music and later developing a fondness for Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell and Jeff Buckley, St. James began exploring music at a young age, taking to school choirs and local theatre groups to fuel his passion. It wasn't until his college years that he became an active musician leaving a music and theatre degree to pursue his true passion of becoming a singer/songwriter.
With vocals and melodic styles that show the clear influences of classic soul, funk and blues of the 1960's and '70s, and lyrics that reveal the same idealism and passion that recall the folk-inspired singer/songwriters of the same era, Nile St. James has brought his bohemian ideals into his music that resonate throughout every performance.
Nile and his band (The Vibes) have been gigging together for over a year, bringing powerful live performances to venues around the country. With a set of original works that can have the audience on their feet jumping to funk and then quickly bring the crowd to a mesmerised hush as St. James weaves honest and heart-wrenching stories with the emotional weight of re-living the experiences seeping into his performance.
Along with vocals that dance from a high-powered belt range to a pure and angelic falsetto, audiences attending Niles gigs have quickly been calling comparisons to the likes of Matt Corby, Allen Stone and Jeff Buckley.
A self-confessed literary junkie Nile's songs often reflect social and environmental ideals as well as his feelings about romance, confusion, disillusionment and joy. Taking to the art of word, Nile uses his music as his primary form of expression, giving detailed accounts of heartbreak, love and anger that resonates within every listener.
Nile St. James is set to release his debut single 'Fell For You' this summer 2017. A song that perfectly showcases the bohemian ideals that the young artist holds close to his heart.
