Nail’s first gigs as a DJ were at school, offering to save the school money instead of booking the local mobile disco.  He played for free, spinning early house classics (and the odd Erasure remix). It's in his bones... 
He eventually started playing the clubs in his hometown of Nottingham in the early 90s, including sets at the legendary DiY events at places like The Marcus Garvey Centre.  His first release came on the DiY comp Strictly 4 Groovers on WARP records in 1993, the now classic track Cassiopeia. The Beeston EP followed in 1994, the first of a number of EPs for DiY, as well as his debut album Big D’s Lounge in 1996. A remix for Inner City was also a highlight of this busy mid 90s period. Nail has since had records and remixes with Classic, Robsoul and Mosaic among many more, including his own label 89:Ghost, started in 2014. 
After taking time out from house music to focus on Bent, with Simon Mills, he returned to DJing in mid 2010s, playing all over Europe at venues such as Fabric, Tresor and Metronome.
He has new tracks coming out soon on labels such as Bid Musik, Groovphoria and Odour Recordings, and it's with great pleasure we welcome him into the SB guest mix series.

Christopher John Mackintosh aka CJ Mackintosh l’ho notato  la prima volta  perché vincitore della competizione DMC "UK DJ Champions" del 1987, poi l’ho incontrato in Italia pochi mesi dopo ospite alla Baia Imperiale di Gabicce… l’ultima volta poi alla prima Music Conference di Miami del 1993, si è esibito assieme a due mostri sacri della scena mondiale Tony Humphries e  David Morales nella stessa consolle ciò voleva dire che era il dj Europeo più rispettato negli USA. Un mostro di tecnica diventato famoso oltre che per le sue performance in consolle anche perché parte del progetto M|A|R|R|S “Pump Up The Volume “. Questa tape che posto stasera l’ha realizzata per l’etichetta di NEW York Nervous nel 1993.

Diy free-party crew 88’-99’ need  I have to say any more…I’ve matured musically over past 8 yrs which was the last time I listened to any house music in any kind of block listening. It went to head and I burned myself out I guess  to much of a good thing cracked me. 
           So coming out of retirement I now feel re born thx to oxfords simple nights at bullingdon cowley rd oxford. And a gig request at esp jo’burg( due to my spine bak breakages that git cancelled which was the reason I came out of retirement like) so I went to see dj Chloé Robinson @ Simultaneously les production night, Bullingdon arms OX4, and this drive me to drag my cd satchels out and my vinyl cases get sum dexs highjack a 4channel mixer off my dad,(rock&r I’ll dj) and got myself re going everything sat on boxes they came in anything just to get the vinyl’s spinning yeah!!! This was April 23 and my accident was may 23’. 
       so im re learning with better mixing styles and effect-usage, digital sampling ￼￼but at the heart of it all is my luv for DiY the ethos the music the parties being there when it waa all happening getting to know the family well and feelings the losses very deaply when two members left our mortal-coil, god bless Pete and Simon thankyou for all your music and encouragement.
     So I’m experimenting better recording and production softwares that have developed since I last used them… so let’s see what happens ( big thankyou to all the diy family and S4g/DiY disks).
