When I started composing this piece in December, after buying Spitfire Originals Intimate Strings on sale, I had these thoughts: If this is what the future is going to look like, I didn't sign up for it. Although in my youth I read and watched a lot of SF films presenting both utopia and dystopia, I always preferred the bright future. However, what I see on TV, on YouTube and outside my window is starting to resemble the latter...

Despite this, I hope you like the piece at least a little bit

The idea was to "Write a short piece (1-2 mins) that starts with a recognizable melody in it’s original form, and then take that melody and reinvent it in your own style. This song is celtic folk from Galicia, north of Spain
The song tells how, on a dark night, omens of misfortune appear (a crow, shadows, voices from the past, falling stars), but at first people laugh and sing without fear. As time passes, the dark signs grow stronger, announcing fire, storms, and a doomed future. In despair, a ritual chant rises, invoking the ancestors to grant strength, protection, and to keep Galicia from falling into silence and pain. The recurring chorus “Did you sing, Luaría?” conveys intimacy and resilience, tied to love and memory.
La canción cuenta cómo, en una noche oscura, aparecen presagios de desgracia (un cuervo, sombras, voces del pasado, estrellas que caen), pero al inicio la gente se ríe y canta sin miedo. Con el tiempo, los malos augurios se intensifican, anunciando fuego, tormenta y un futuro condenado. Ante la desesperanza, se eleva un canto ritual invocando a los antepasados para pedir fuerza, protección y que Galicia no caiga en silencio ni dolor. El estribillo “Cantaches, Luaría?” mantiene un tono íntimo y de resistencia, ligado al amor y la memoria.
