Maeve 09 is a special record. It welcomes the return of one of the founding members of the label, Baikal. Although the Dutchman has had somewhat of a hiatus from releasing music, his hard work and struggle with the process of creating forward thinking electronic music has always continued. “Pelican’s Flight” reaps the rewards of this carefully nurtured process and proves most definitely it was worth the wait.

The title track “Pelican’s Flight” is a mesmerizing ten-minute techno trip. A throbbing kick drum is decorated with sparkling synth lines all moving on their own orbit creating a trance like effect on the dance floor. The pinnacle of the trip hears rasping chords blast through the swell in a glorious moment of elation; in short this is a bomb.

The B-side “All Forces Occur In Pairs” goes deeper again, drawing the listener into a similar hypnotic state. Various sonic ideas breathe in and out of the foreground creating a swirl of expectancy and excitement. This track will cause you to close your eyes and be carried away to another dimension…

Julian Wassermann steps up to the SVT plate with an immersive four track effort that showcases his knack for deep tech melodies. A minimal bassline and synths straight from the depths of space lay the groundwork for Alpha, the kickoff into the EP. A subtle yet effective mood-setter, it makes for a great inaugural cut as the release unfolds. Title piece Aurea calmly follows, looming in with tribal infused percussion and lush, effusive vocals. Garnering an equally atmospheric mood, Wassermann aptly combines airy pads and dark synths into an immensely polarizing cut. People Are Strange dives in on a more dynamic note, centered around a solid bassline with alternating synth lines. Swiftly morphing into an energetic banger via punchy bass and ghostly vocal chops, the construction carries major peak time appeal. For the final contribution Imperia, Wassermann calls on the production skills of fellow Muenchener H.B.C. to create a radiant piece of spacious tech. Layering modular strobes and arpeggiated synths, their production styles merge harmoniously, resulting in a dancefloor-ready strapping groove.

Inigo Kennedy’s relationship with Token spans the label’s existence. He set the mood for what was to come from the very first release: A refined, yet courageous excursion, instantly recognisable as fitting with his own sonic identity, cultivated over many years of experience. This sound has become definitive in the context of Token’s output ever since. After his previous contribution earlier this year, a record thematically obsessed with a line of obscure interstellar clouds, he’s back with another double A-side for our next release.
 
Surrender begins with a textured awakening. The intermixture of slow swells and attentively-dashed accents in a range of timbres guides us blindly towards a shocking, strident interruption when the percussion is suddenly introduced with full and resolute force. As the track continues Kennedy makes sense of the unexpected jolt on our behalf, and the two opposing inclinations become one. 
 
Castles In The Air retains a similar theme, with the kind of self-awareness that only a producer of Kennedy’s level of maturity can employ. Gloomy, lingering chords begin and then pause, forcing us to wait expectantly, with more than a moment lingering in reverb. When the full arrangement appears, it kicks at least twice as hard as the introduction could ever have prepared us for.

Having recently provided Underground Audio with his remix of Javi Bora's 'Weapons', Barcelona favourite Piem presents his own collection for the label via his 'Rude' EP. 

Seething with attitude, title track 'Rude' champions weighty percussion straddled by pronounced chord stabs. Raffa FL flips the original, dousing it in biting hi hats and a hefty sub. The 2nd remix comes from Los Pastores, who approach the track from a different stance, shifting the previously choppy synths into an atmospheric roller.

Piem returns to close the EP with second original mix 'Over Me'. Muffled vocal samples unfurl to reveal dissonant delays spiralling into the shuffles of snares and shakers

Mihalis Safras makes his debut on Hot Creations with his Raygun Rave EP. Hard-hitting basslines and rolling melodies feature throughout the EP plus a ‘Paradiso’ remix from Mathias Kaden.

With an addictive and melodic bass, title track Raygun Rave is a dancefloor awakener with influence from a bygone era. One Stop to Babel is up next with bouncing bass and mesmeric synthesis; Mathias Kaden has reinvented the track on the flip, incorporating robotic synths and wavy vocals. Finally, Sagit has a muted bassline, with a springy melody throughout and a hard-hitting kick that makes an appearance halfway.

Since 2006, the Material Series co-founder has been steadily rising within the house scene. Hailing from the city of Athens, Safras has had an impressive array of releases on numerous labels including Cajual, Relief and Material. His Play it Loud remix for Marco Carola last year received a huge response catapulting him to new levels of stardom.
Producing since 2001, Kaden has demonstrated his versatile style and individual approach throughout his career. Alongside his DJing capabilities, the German producer demonstrated his impeccable freestyle efficiency playing part-live sets throughout his album tour. Often called upon for his remix abilities, he has featured alongside artists such as Mathias Tanzmann, Anja Schneider and Trentemöller.
