I am a classically trained mezzo soprano, though I've always considered myself more of a contralto. This live album showcases my 2018 senior recital, which served as the capstone of my Bachelor of Music degree from Marywood University. It features pieces in English, French, Italian, and Ukrainian languages that fall into the genres of classical, jazz, and traditional folk. This is my only album without original compositions.

I wrote and recorded this song on July 30, 2009 when I was 16 years old. It was originally titled Relapse & Recovery.

This song speaks to the experience of wishing you didn't still love someone who made conscious decisions to hurt you. Abusive relationships are confusing, and it's hard to see it when you're in it. To fellow survivors, please know that you are not alone in your pain. You are inherently worthy. YOU MATTER. You are a *true* baddie, and you deserve to be treated with respect.

Sweet Venom

I composed and recorded this song in Summer 2009 when I was 16 years old. It is about the strained relationship I had with my mom at the time. This isn't true for everyone, but for us, things got better. Either way, if things are tough with your parents, and things are not okay, *you* will still be okay. Тримайся. Hang in there.

I composed and recorded this song on September 20, 2009 when I was 17 years old.

I composed and recorded this song in 2007 at 15 years old. Things had been rough for awhile, and I used to daydream about a boy coming to my rescue. That's what happens, right? Prince Charming always comes to save the princess in the castle. Well, he never came. In the words of the Cheetah Girls, "I had to rescue myself."

I composed and recorded this song on December 22, 2009 when I was 17 years old.

Sweet Innocence

I composed and recorded this song on January 11, 2010 at 17 years old. Like many of my teenage compositions, this song is about an abusive relationship in high school that lasted two years. The Prince Charming of my childhood dreams never came, and the dude who did show up treated me wrong, so I had to become my own Prince Charming. Turns out I'm a damn Queen.

I composed this song around 2007 at 15 years old and recorded it a year or two later. It was a rough time. I used to daydream about someone coming to rescue me. I didn't know how to drive yet, but I would imagine myself disappearing into the night and driving far, far away.

Traveling circles is not as fun as it may seem in a desert of dreams.

Trivial Pursuit

I composed and recorded this song on January 26, 2010 at age 17. I won my high school talent show with it. :) It has always been one of my favorites. I only realized in hindsight that it was about the abusive relationship I was in back then. I had no idea I had written the song about myself.

Sunset

I composed and recorded this song on August 5, 2009 when I was 16 years old. Like many of my songs, it is about intimate partner violence and trying to escape the cycle of abuse. Survivors, know that you are not alone in your pain. You are resilient, capable, and inherently worthy. YOU MATTER. Your needs, wants, goals, and preferences MATTER. You deserve to be treated with respect.

This obscure piece from the Acadian Region of France was recorded live at my 2018 capstone recital. It is my absolute favorite piece and inspired the title of this album.

I composed and recorded this song at 17 years old on my slightly-out-of-tune Chickaring piano, which has been in my family for three generations.

I composed and recorded this piece in 2016 when I was 24 years old. It was for a school assignment for my Bachelor of Music degree.

I composed and recorded this piece sometime in my late teens or early twenties.

Notre Dame

I composed this piece around age 18 and recorded it 10 years later. The title was inspired by a book I used to read as a kid, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

I composed this piece around 2010 when I was 18 years old. It is definitely my favorite piano composition.

I composed and recorded this song in 2024 at 32 years old. I was sick of being mistreated and I had to make a point. This was my first attempt at blending elements of acoustic, classical, and hip-hop.

I composed and recorded this freestyle rap in 2024 at 32 years old. I wrote my first rap at age 12, but never really explored the genre until now. This song emphasizes female empowerment and subverts social structures such as sexism, misogyny, and the patriarchy. I draw a lot of inspiration from Megan Thee Stallion. I loved creating this track and blending elements of rap and hip-hop, acoustic, and classical genres. Always Sunny fans will recognize the reference in the third verse!

QUEEN

I wrote this song on July 29, 2009 at 16 years old, but never quite got around to finishing it. Well, I finished it 16 years later. I like how it turned out. I think 16-year-old me would be proud.

How Did I Know.

I composed and recorded this song at age 32. The last time I wrote a song in Ukrainian, I was 13. This song is special to me in many ways. it captures ancient Ukrainian traditions, my culture, my languages, my childhood, and my spirituality. I also love getting to showcase my low range (C3).

Fire, Untamed, written at age 32, is Part II of Wildfire, the song I wrote at age 16 about my abusive high school boyfriend. I'm 7 years late, but... #MeToo. Fuck the perpetrators who received no consequences for their crimes. You both belong in prison.

Fire, Untamed

In this song, I explore the impacts of oppressive systems and advocate for the unity of marginalized groups. Even though our identities may differ, there are enough of us with at least one marginalized identity that we can band together and fight for our rights--and for one another's. Let's all come together and fuck these systems frontwards, backwards, sideways, and upside down.

Canaries in the Air

In this song, I surface themes of female empowerment and poetic justice, as well as the relationship between the two. This original piece involves a four-part harmony in which only the inside voices move; the alto, not the soprano, carries the melody; and I sing two and a half octaves (C3-F5). With acoustic instruments, classical singing, and rap, I blend elements of disparate genres that have traditionally been considered mutually exclusive. The fierce, macabre lyrics, coupled with an eerie melody, make the song especially memorable.

Sing, Darkest Ones

As the great Megan Thee Stallion once said, "I don't write about how I feel, I write about how I want to feel." I wrote this song on the day I had to request a medical leave of absence from work. I'll still earn my doctorate. It'll just take a little longer to get there.
