To my understanding the premise of 12" singles (I Feel Love) coincided with the birth of clubbing. DJs wanted longer intros for better transitions and extended breaks for better dancing. 
So the concept of "club music" on a 7" has never made sense to me... nevertheless those little beauties are out there and the idea has grown on me.
I wanted to try and showcase a few tracks that would rarely see the club as a  7" plus some of the newer labels releasing with this intention.

I was invited over the weekend to do a live stream for my friends at Wiredtribe. Their parties in Italy's north specialise in downtempo dance music from all corners of the globe. I have included some tracks from India, Israel, Brazil, Italy, Nigeria, South Sudan, Jamaica and Australia. 
This is a vinyl only recording of music i would see myself playing at a Slow Tribe party one day! Including labels and artists like Multiculti, Yothu Yindi, Mutabaruka, Bahnsteig, Al Dobson Jr, Soundway, Tony Allen, Good Company, Gordan Koang, Manfredas, Music From Memory and Phil Stroud.

WIREDTRIBE SESSION #3

90mins vinyl tribute to maybe the greatest musical nation on earth!!!
Vinyl collectors and music nerds world wide cant help but be fascinated by Brazilian music, it is so special and so ecelectic. Stories of Madlib digging for days and Gilles Peterson paying £1000 for a holy grail... 
No matter the genre, it has the same vibrance and warmth. 
The birth place of Bossa Nova and Samba, Brazil changed the course of Jazz.
 Birthing disco/boogie royalty, traditional music with roots set in the Amazon through to hardcore Baile funk from the favelas of Rio. 
Something about the Portuguese language sounds like it was made for singing.
It was really hard (stupid)to try and traverse and represent it as a genre in one mix and i didnt want a whole set of boogie edits ...  
(there will likely be a part two for more modern future jazz type bits)
However here is my attempt with Brazilian music that i love.

Deep inna summer holiday ipa haze, found myself lifted from the couch, pressed record and started grabbing house 12"s!! 
no plan, just pulling vinyl at arms reach. 
in hindsight some transitions made more sense than others... 
still worth a listen i think! enjoy ^-^
