During an extended 'wilderness' experience when we have come to the end of ourselves... When it seems like all we are getting out of life is a chain of seemingly negative events that swing us from bad to worse...like all hell is breaking loose on us...the  only thing that keeps us going is our faith. Faith which is drawn from meditation on past personal breakthroughs,  hearing other people's testimonies or reading the recorded events in the Bible. Then we begin to stir our ourselves up with hope-filled words,  saying,  'Is He that same God...that very God who parted the red Sea with a blast of this nostrils... That God who performed several astonishing miracles to show Himself 'Mighty' as He delivered the children of Israel.. . The one who spoke and the entire universe came to be... It is He that I serve.  Surely if He could do these great wonders I read about, if He was able to do that miracle for my brother and another for my sister, He is undoubtedly able to do it for me"

So this song is a prayer, a cry, an acknowledgement and a declaration that God who was 'Mighty to save'  in times past, is still able to deliver us today. By this song we call out for salvation and deliverance while declaring that He is  an awesome wonder..that He is holy, faithful, consistent and constant. So that He would rise up yet again to show Himself Mighty in our situation and circumstances.
