Bristol has been Britain's musical hub for all things bass since forever. EVM128 (Luke Meads) happens to be one of the most recent producers spinning his musical heritage into newer formats.

Looking back on Meads' BR mini-mix from 2011, the homegrown influence is indeed palpable. These 25 minutes exhibit the comprehensive sound of 'post-dubstep' bass claps and 8-bit synths. Now, four years on, Meads has polished the sound into something refreshingly new. Taken from his forthcoming debut album, the track "Treatment" flaunts a broken beat, distinctively swung, which keeps the same sensuality and bassline of Bristol's musical past, but now in more upbeat nu-jazz surroundings.

EVM128's debut LP Nova drops on 18th September via Studio Rockers.

This track was supposed to be released way sooner as part of a bigger project that would have been a split-release with Persian Empire's friend Neue Grafik. By the time we got the project ready, Persian Empire wasn't satisfied anymore with Trip Trap (also known as the working-in-progress title BA02) & the project postponed indefinitely.

Ethereal, arpeggiating chimes sweep gently into mattress pad kicks until an evaporating R. Kelly makes an appearance halfway through the track to explain how it all fits together with a motherfucking sitar.
