'Oh man, I’ve got good news all around! First of all, even if there wasn’t anything to celebrate, this mix from Heathered Pearls is absolutely superb! Almost two hours in length it navigates many favorite genres and artists represented by the Michigan based label, Ghostly International. Just look at this amazing tracklist! In 2009, Ghostly celebrated its 10 year anniversary as a label, with many shows across the globe. This year, the label is commemorating a decade of performances at Decibel Festival. The 10th Ghostly showcase at Decibel will feature live performances from Dauwd, Beacon, Lusine and Shigeto (Friday, September 27th at the Crocodile) and you know that I’ll be there all night!

Meanwhile, Jakub Alexander (that’s Heathered Pearls), a curator of the ISO50 blog and founder of Moodgadget Records, has just released a digital remix album, titled Loyal Reworks, featuring many great artists, including Sun Glitters, loscil, Markus Guentner and Lawrence. His mix opens with Chick Corea, Kazi on Stones Throw, Jon Hopkins and the Moods remix of his track 'Sunrays' from The Stars EP. Then it's into Letherette, Dirg Gerner, Caribou and his beautiful collaboration with Ifan Daffyd, before closing with recent guests Werkha and Maribou State. Solid Steel (13th March) We welcome back Portico to Solid Steel having previously been guests in 2012. They are celebrating the release of their new album 'Living Fields' which is out on March 30th and their mix includes the title track featuring Jono Mcleery and '101' featuring Joe Neman from Alt J . They had this to say;
"From dubbed out Eno, to the intimacy of Grouper, through to the crisp, reflective sheen of Rene Hell and Jam City. This is a mix that brings together a wide array of music we've been inspired by and listened to over the last year or so. Solid Steel Radio Show 13/3/2015 Part 1 + 2 - Portico

Solid Steel in association with Serato (24th April) This week we launch a brand new Solid Steel website at http://solidsteel.net and we're delighted to welcome back two guests Caribou and Colleen with exclusive new mixes to celebrate. They both appeared in the same show 10 years ago and on the new website you can hear their 2005 mixes in the Featured section, along with Caribou’s mix from 2000 when he was still known as Manitoba. Also released this week will be a mix from Matthew Herbert as Doctor Rockit (1995), Autechre mix (1997) and a Juan Atkins mix and interview from 1988, plus selected shows from the last 27 years and many more to come each week.
We even have new Solid Steel jingles for the first time in ages, and, over the coming weeks, you can hear what the likes of Luke Vibert, next week's guest Four Tet and FaltyDL (which starts the show this week) have come up with. 

And so to Caribou in Hour 1 this week and a mix, as always rich in quality music from across the years and around the world, including Rome Sithammarat, Melvin Ukachi , Percussions, Underground Resistance and Derrick May's Illusion First Mix of Sueno Latino. He had this to say about his mix;
"It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since my most recent Solid Steel mix (and even longer since my first one). A lot has happened in between then and now but even more has stayed the same - just like the mix 10 years ago, this one's made up of music old and new which I've come across recently - plus a couple favourites which I've been playing for a long long time."

Solid Steel in association with Serato (17th July) Funkstorung return to Solid Steel this week, having been guests back in 2001 (you can hear that mix in the 'Featured' section at SolidSteel.net ). After releases on Studio K7, Compost and Chocolate Industries and remixes for Bjork, Wu Tang and Jean Michel Jarre, they took a break for 10 years. Now they are back and their latest self titled album is out now on Monkeytown. A remixes EP follows in August that features a remix by Mouse on Mars that's included in their mix. They had this to say;
"This mix has everything Funkstörung is about.  Poppy vocals vs. weird beats, nice melodies vs complex sounds… all in a funky suit.
To us the mix feels like a journey… it's stuff from the past, yet unreleased tracks and 'classics' (in our eyes).
It has been a big honour to do another Solid Steel Mix… over 10 years after we did the last one.  It definitely feels really good to be back."
