Solid Steel in association with Serato (18th March) Our guest in Hour 1 is Nightwave, who moved from her native Ljubljana, Slovenia to London in her late teens and was selected for the Red Bull Music Academy in 2011. She has released music on Fortified Audio, Svetlana Industries, Local Action, Unknown to the Unknown and with Rustie on Warp. She recently had a track on The Umbrella compilation from Rinsed out of New York, which features in the mix and you can hera more at @nightwave808 . She told us;
“It's a great honour for me to do a Solid Steel mix, so I wanted to include a bit of everything I love - from Chicago house, Detroit techno, old electro and ghettotech, to grime, footwork and juke, all with a few of my own tunes thrown in.”  – Nightwave

Apollo presents a sublime mini album from Melbourne duo Albrecht La’Brooy AKA Sean La'Brooy and Alex Albrecht which will appeal to fans of Suzanne Kraft, Tornado Wallace and Dawn Of Midi.

The release is inspired by a visit to the beautiful Wilson's Promontory, a remote national park on the South East coast of Australia. The tracklisting runs from morning through to nightime and tries to capture the feeling of each snapshot in time.

Their music is a delicate fusion of ambient electronic textures, live instrumentation and field recordings - gauzy guitar melodies, dreamy synth arpeggios and throbbing rthymic pulses that feels equally at home in outdoor amphitheatres as well as dark nightclubs

Alternating between their cosmic/balearic deep house and more laid back introspections, Tidal River's gorgeously lush sounds are remarkably consistent - rich, warm and organic with an emphasis on atmosphere and the transportation of the listener. Each track was the fruit of Albrecht La’Brooy’s long improvised jamming process

Heavily involved in their local scene, the duo co-run the Analogue Attic imprint, "Championing this gentler side of electronic music in Australia” which has proven a fertile incubator for their own development, across a series of ambitious and ear catching EPS, alongside local cohorts such as Sleep D, Rings Around Saturn and Udmo. This involvement also extends to including local players on their recording sessions as well as their cosmic live shows. The Tidal River album includes a quartet of jazz musicians including label-mate Matthew Hayes on bass guitar, guitarist Oliver Paterson, Spanish Cajon courtesy of Joseph Batrouney and night time saxophone debut by Josh Kelly.

With the stunning Tidal River forthcoming on Apollo 2018 looks set to be a very bright year for Albrecht La’Brooy

For Against Fascism Trax 006, Auntie Flo takes us to Brazil, a country that is dealing with having a bona fide fascist president, with an EP recorded in Rio De Janeiro. I’m going to shut up and let Afonso Marcondes from Sao Paolo take it from here - 


In a world in which culture policies (incl. music) win nationalist tones, Brazil has lessons to give with the catastrophic failed experience of the last government and the teletubbies talk on Culture from the current one.

As one sometimes feel as if one is on a time-warp from time to time, most often taken there by music, songs like March of The Berimbau here, could easy make for the perfect soundtrack for the political history of Brazil, country in which Auntie Flo got his inspiration and recorded this tracks.

From the military regime that gave Brazil bossa nova in the 60’s, the tropicália sounds of the 70’s to the pop rock era of the 80’s all the way from the rave scene of the 90’s to todays Bahia Bass, music in Brazil has always been instrumental in helping shape the political scene. 

One thing about the Brazilian music ’scene’ is that rarely it lends itself to extreme political views, via lyrics or otherwise, after all, carnival must be kept a happy time! The number of different cultures living in peace, side by side in Brazil has strengthen the country disapproval of hate talk in music since I can remember growing up in the interior of São Paulo state. 

Fast forward to the first 5 months of government of an unfortunate retired army officer, whose every word sounds like Trump, and whose views on culture is to extinguish the Culture Ministry and cut low the state incentives to the sector, that, so far, is not bitting music in Brazil. 

Hope that Auntie Flo’s music inspired everyone as the place where it was made and recorded inspired music in Brazil, as a beacon of light against any hate talk darkness.

Exclusive: Arandel - Bodyline (Eris Drew Jeep Beets Lullaby)

Released in January Arandel's InBach-album was highly acclaimed and worshipped by the international press as it was a homage to one of music's most relevant artists of all time, Johann Sebastian Bach. Arandel's music exceled in a monumental reinterpretation of the orginal works, rewriting and revisiting Bach's music by adding contemporary elements and borrowing the voices from scene-renowned artist. Almost one year later InBach is partly rewritten again as some selected tracks are remixed by some of the electronic music scene most respected or aspiring artist. Chicago-based artist and T4T LUV NRG co-founder Eris Drew, who just mixed and compiled fabric's latest all-vinyl mix with Octo Octa, is responsible for a new approach to Bodyline or, as the press of the remixes says, comes up with a reflection and continuation of Arandel's music, which is poetic, infinitely respectful and innovative. Eris Drew treated Bodyline in exactly this manner and delivers a broken (hiphop)beat version that is beyond any beats beauty but blows any listener's mind as it combines several elements from diverse genres put together so wondrous it lures one into a continous circle of nocturnal bliss – a lullaby. Implementing Ben Shemie's forever hautingly beautiful voice and putting it over a rock'n'roll da bass line is – as simple as that – the work of a music-savy and lover or Eris Drew.

Arandel's InBach Remixed will be out on InFiné on November 20th, 2020.
