The name Legion & Logam has resonated since their first output on the Program imprint. With vocal roller ‘House of Cards’ being picked up by some of the dance world’s leading tastemakers, it saw the production trio ascend to a very critical point in their career. And the glass ceiling has been broken; it was only apt for such rising stalwarts to be given the monumental 25th release in the label’s discography.

‘Holding On’ and ‘Afterthought’ also follow their exclusive signing to the RAM group… Although, it was only a matter of time before the artists were taken in by a label of that calibre.

You’re taken into A-side ‘Holding on’ by the soulful talent of Micah Freeman, guiding you through its beautiful note arpeggios and clicking percussion. Weaving amongst the atmospheric strum of guitar and climatic synth, it’s perfectly refined and demonstrates exactly why they were exclusively signed.

Following on in quick procession is ‘Afterthought’. Pounding against an ethereal, humanistic sample, there’s an underlay of subs which slowly builds and brays between breaks. They masterfully combine impact with a tightly woven composition; fiercely intricate yet without lacking substance, it pedestals the experience which each party brings to the table.

So, here’s to another release which sees Legion & Logam firmly on the radar for years to come. Their talent was already unbridled. However, combining this with one of the biggest and most revered drum & bass labels across the globe, they’re sure to become unstoppable.

Bensley’s story is one of the most illustrious across drum & bass. Plucked from relative obscurity, he pathed his way through legendary competition, heralded as the genre’s wonder kid. Dropping a full LP of fresh cuts after showcasing a just tiny glimpse of his production standard, his music was met with awe. And just over a year later, he’s continued with a succession of releases pedestalling a talent that’s only continuing to grow.

Using the full ethereal atmospherics of elevating note arpeggios and plucking synths, Bensley is back with his full sound scale. Rattling percussion filters between space-like stabs and humanistic samples, breaking up the mix then pushing it down into unconventional breaks. Demonstrating a growing complexity seldom seen in producers so young, once again Bensley proves his commitment to musicianship. One which hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Since settling into Bristol’s cultural hub Keeno has thrived. His latest project ‘Music For Orchestra: Drums & Bass’ fuses two worlds, pumping rich classical scores with an underground drum & bass heartbeat. The recording of live orchestral elements in four new tracks has propelled his distinctive repertoire to new heights, making an incredible follow-up to his sophomore album ‘Futurist'.

Opening track ‘Enigma’ balances thick staccato strings, long drawn harmonics and weighty bass for full impact. Since Keeno took part in Enter Shikari’s ‘Hospitalised’ remix album frontman Rou Reynolds has been a big fan. He’s returned the favour with a vocal lead on ‘Shelter From The Storm’ where natural elements create an earthly atmosphere for this deep bassy roller. Turning to Keeno’s more dancefloor focused persona ‘Fading Fast’ mixes a heavy reverberating bassline with sharp breaths of strings to create a tension-building, powerful counterpart. Finally, the church-like vocals of ‘Insomnia Of An Anxious Mind’ echo the somber sounds of late night emotions - a satisfyingly moody alternative to Keeno’s usual uplifting magic.

With artists constantly redrawing the boundaries of 170BPM, this ‘018’ edition breaks the mould showcasing the weird and wonderful sounds from the genre’s most promising new talent.

Interdimensional waveman Lakeway has mustered up a jukey-jungle hybrid in the form of ‘Lock Off’. Panpipe synths and some big beat steps combine to make the ultimate banger. Keeping things correct is Bristolian serpent Constrict. Choppy snares and flirty 8-bit synth stabs slither together to create ‘Tight Coil’. Both choice cuts for any DJ looking for that D&B curveball.

This internationally spread line-up also features some of Russia’s best D&B exports. A.Fruit’s ‘Tender Love’ is a delectable fusion of footwork and techno rolled into one and Soela’s ‘I Wish You Would Come’ is an ambient spaced out down tempo number.
