So the idea of the album is you’re in the early 80s and a random person from the future gives you this EP with no context. It just has a cute album cover with the title Smooth Grooves. The songs are catchy and groovy funk songs that are short and compact, so the EP gets distributed because it’s catchy and mysterious, but secretly the “foreign” track names actually have a double meaning, and a narrative is sort of told through the music. The interlude, normally suppose to take you out of the album actually serves as the codex to start digging deeper as it has a quote about anarchism in it from Murray Bookchin. Ideally the listener would then translate the titles of the album to
1. Organize 2. Autonomy 3. Amanita/Interlude (amanita is the red and white mushroom from Mario) 4. Surveillance 5. Oppression
So while it’s happy and cheery and draws the listener in, it’s actually meant to serve as a warning of the dystopian future coming and to organize workers and the community against the government. And the first two titles are obviously positive concepts and good things for the average citizen, but the second half of the album has darker title names about government repression and control. The vibe of the album also darkens in the music/harmonies after the interlude, representing the government cracking down on you for organizing your community. The first song is called organize and the lyrics are about a super sexy beach bash where people like to drink cold beer and grill fish. Aka a way to organize your workforce, do a beach day and talk about unionizing.
Alright sorry it’s geeky and not important but thought it’d help to know the vibe before hearing. This project is really inspired by 70s and 80s Japanese city pop, future funk, and 90s video game music, hope you all enjoy it! I did everything myself so it does not sound very professional or anything but wanted to share what I was able to do on my own!

Loved the mix of midwestern guitars with breakcore, so I sampled my own guitar playing to try and make a hyperpop breakcore song with midwestern inspired guitar. I called it Bison because it's a song that's suppose to represent the decreasing prominence and respect for traditional blues and jazz guitarists. Like bison, majestic and powerful, these musicians over time and with modern music have slowly been pushed to extinction. First song I made in a while! I've been busy making music with Soul Juice, check them out we're releasing an album next month! This song is basically about the burdens of having a human mind and consciousness, we over think things and in turn forgo peace and a quiet mindscape. Being an animal doesn't carry these issues, sentience complicates things way too much haha. Going to be the main single off my upcoming solo acoustic EP I'm making called "Samsara". Goin' Coconuts!!!

For my midterm, had to interpret a kids' short story and interpret it musically. Here's what I came up with.

Kansas City Octopus

Just you wait, this will become an awesome song eventually. Composed and arranged by me, eventually a flute will be playing the melody that I (guitarist) am playing as well as solo over the form. We also have virtuosos Victor Furtado on banjo and Andrew Vogst on fiddle eventually recording solos over the form as well as vocal harmonies. This is just a first draft that was thrown together in a day.
