Sonic 3 Beta (Mega Drive Rearrange)

With the questionable arrangements of these tracks from Sonic Origins being front and centre in Sonic related discourse, I felt inspired to pick this track back up again from its half complete state that I left it in about a year or two ago.

The goal of this remixing project was to make the beta tracks sound a lot more finished than they were in the beta. To be fair to the originals, they were in a beta state however I still wanted to tackle these tracks anyway since they're full on bops! :P

Made this one for Round 1 of the Mega Drive Music Competition, an event run by myself under the Sonic Hacking Contest banner! The prompt for the round was to remix one of the new tracks featured in Sonic Origins, and since I already remixed a grand majority of them, I decided to go with this one to round out the set.

Sonic 3 Beta - Credits Theme (Mega Drive Rearrange)

Heya! Here's the first track of a series of rearranges/remixes I've been working on of the Sonic 3 Prototype tracks. I'm gonna be releasing more of these in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! ^o^

Truth be told, I've had a lot of these sitting around on my hard drive for a while, and I figured it'd be great to properly release them.

The goal of this remixing project was to make the beta tracks sound a lot more finished than they were in the beta. To be fair to the originals, they were in a beta state however I still wanted to tackle these tracks anyway since they're full on bops! :P

For all of the S3 proto remixes, I used VOPM and SN-EMU whilst keeping strictly to the Mega Drive's limits (for compatibility's sake).

Heya, here's another S3 proto track! This week it's Launch Base 1! ^o^

When I first heard this tune in the proto, I actually didn't like this tune whatsoever. The melody and countermelody both took up 2 channels each which is really wasteful. The base composition is fine though, so I reworked it to better use the Mega Drive setup and bring out how good the tune actually is!

This week it's Ice Cap 1, which is actually one of my favourite tunes from the batch, though I really didn't like how it was sounding in the beta since it just sounded really empty. It's one of the few that actually sounds better in the PC version lol.

...prank'd lmao, this one was made with Genny Beta because this was the first S3 proto track I did, and I realised I kinda needed pitch bends for most of the tracks so i changed to VOPM afterwards.

It's been a while since I posted one of these. Carnival Night 2 has to be one of my favourite S3 beta tracks! It just sounds so fun and full of life, and so I tried capturing some of that fun in this cover!

Sonic 3 Beta - Carnival Night 2 (Mega Drive Rearrange)

Here's the next S3 proto tune! The original Ice Cap 2 wasn't actually very different from the Act 1 version, so I made sure to differentiate my two versions a bit in more than just instrumentation. I doubled down on the more tense feel that Act 2 brings, and I think it really nicely contrasts against my Act 1!
