“Good Time” hit the shops in July 1999 on Black Jack Records (catalog BLACKJACK ES 02). I was a Lyon-born student living first in Aix, then Marseille, and I dropped a week’s budget on that double-12″ the day it showed up in the local store—you could almost smell the Med in its grooves. 

Who’s Fafa? Fafa Monteco—Fabrice Texier, Lyon ’68—cut his teeth hosting the late-’80s Mastermix radio show, threw some of the city’s first raves, and co-founded Superfunk in ’98, planting Marseille’s flag on the global house map. 

Black Jack itself, born in Aix in ’98 and founded by Fab G, kept that spirit alive by flying in Chicago talent like Ron Carroll and the late Paul Johnson, welding a Chi-Aix axis that fed straight into the French Touch. 

While interning in Paris that same year, I spent my off-nights at Respect Is Burning Wednesdays at Le Queen—Daft Punk and Dimitri From Paris behind the glass—and at David Guetta’s Happy House sessions in Le Palace’s hidden fumoir, where Daft had already tested early live sets back in ’95. 

Paris had the hype; Aix-Marseille felt warmer, funkier—and “Good Time” was our anthem.

Dropping my 2025 update of that banger isn’t just nostalgia; it’s a thank-you note to the DJ and the label who showed me the South could swing as hard as Chicago. 

Big respect, Fafa—here’s to the next “Good Time".

"Unreleased Mixes" is an unofficial white-label bootleg pressed in France around 2007 for a handful of club DJs.

It was never cleared by Daft Punk, never sold in stores, and Discogs has even blocked marketplace sales of it.

I tracked down an original copy years ago, ripped it straight from the vinyl, and that’s what you’re hearing.

That’s all we know so far—mystery mix, zero official release, but 100 % real wax in my hands.
