Made a huge mix of some of my favourite classic trance trax from the late 90s and early 2000s 💿 mixed all in key, slowly progressing in energy and moving through various different sounds, from bright and euphoric, progressive and melodic, moody and atmospheric and hard and fast 

I was also pretty inspired by original record designs and art from the genre so I designed a cover for it based on them and made a bunch of 3D renders to visualise the mix. Lake Teletskoye — the heart of Altai. Deep, silent, alive. Its surface breathes like the sky; its depths remember like the earth. Here, everything sounds different — a drop falls like eternity, the wind whispers like a prayer, and silence itself becomes music. Morning fog drifts across the still water; golden peaks shimmer in reflection, and it feels as if nature holds its breath to preserve the balance. Often called “the younger brother of Baikal,” Lake Teletskoye is revered in Altai as a living being — a keeper of ancient secrets, a mirror in which time gazes at itself. Seventy-seven kilometers long and three hundred twenty-six meters deep, its waters carry the echoes of millennia. The lake doesn’t simply flow — it remembers.

Vol. 7 of Mountain Altai VA is dedicated to this sacred lake — a place where light and sound merge into one. Nine tracks shimmer like reflections on the water, from the first drops of morning dew to the unfathomable darkness of its depths.

The waves move like the breathing of time; the fog turns into melody; and every drop of water holds both light and eternity. This part of the collection, created in celebration of the third anniversary of [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB], is dedicated to balance — between light and depth, silence and sound, the heard and the felt. Nine tracks form a single sonic surface — the stillness of the lake where music becomes water, and water becomes music. Here, dub techno breathes like the transparent depths themselves — slow, pure, infinite. It is music of peace, of light, of memory. It is Altai — reflected in sound.

We’re taken off-planet, and while endlessly transportive, it’s also strapping and triumphant. The radiant stabs and funked-out luminescence might evoke solar flares and the vastness of space, but we go broad, boisterous and in-yer-face straight outta the gate. Known for doing the groove-forward thing like the best of them, this is quintessential Subb-an.

Plush and opulent, horizons will be expanded and synapses fired. More than anything else, it recalls the exquisite, sophisticated output of Japanese donny Soichi Terada or golden era Italian dream house at its most direct. A far-cry from the raw, stripped-down intensity of that classic “Birmingham sound” popularised by Surgeon and Regis.

Chest out, big on the dramatics and he’s comin’ in hottt with that rousing forward momentum. Club-ready gear with plenty of earworm potential. Sublime.
