Data Curation is a new audio &visual art series by ECU. We are thrilled to present a compilation of Roel Funcken music and arts which weaves together different compositions to create a harmonious message.

Roel Funcken is probably the most prolific musician in abstract electronic music on this side of the galaxy. For decades, fans of electronic and IDM have been tracking the pioneering Dutch musician. Roel Funcken also likes to express himself in different ways, with photography and lately also with painting.

TL PREMIERE : Roel Funcken - Boton Crawl [EC Underground]

For the 13th edition of our System Exclusive Series we would like to present you a newcomer from Paris: Dj Chteuf, a founding member of the @Klangangriff Previous gigs.

He likes to bring on stage his love for the Groovy and
Dub chords as much as the fast paced drum patterns
without leaving the Techno genre. He offers fast and
groovy, but above all seductive music. It is in his
constant search for restraint as well as violence that
he inscribes his style in what is known as Fast Techno.
The previous years of intense producing and classical
music education has given him a strong attachement
to the music structure and energy. Always looking for
the right angle when approaching a crowd, he aims at
pushing their bondaries while pushing his.

This project also wants to promote Techno as a
common denominator between other music genres.
Thanks to its polimorphism and its variety of colours,
Techno can become the catalyst which links other
influences in electronic music, thus creating different
energy levels and interesting dialogues.

He started DJing in middle school, under the impulse
of his brother. Since then, his love for electronic music
grew enough to take a consequent space in his
everyday life.

Node co-runs @gatedrecordings with his childhood friend Jadey. While he resides in Japan and Jadey in the UK they have been putting out as much high quality music as they can find from the best up and coming artists, primarily within the realms of electronic music and often experimenting outside the boundaries of specific genres. 

For this mix Node has assembled some tracks from Gated’s latest compilation ‘Triangle’s Peak’, plus one from the new spacey, techy EP by Taupe, 'Rootless', out now on their Bandcamp. Not to mention one from Dip Shim's new album out Dec 16th and available to pre-order on Juno records at the moment. Live recording from Berlin's Wasserturm, November 27, 2022. The old water tower's massive tanks created natural reverb that shaped every sound – 18 seconds in the main chamber, 4-5 in the smaller one. We played mostly unreleased material, letting the building's acoustics guide us.

The tower stood empty since 1952, until artists started bringing it back to life. Now we've added our own echo to its walls.

This renowned French techno producer, known as Manuel-M, is also the author of three ambient albums, Endurance (2008), Thirty (2016) and the newly released Forest (2022), whose serenity, cinematic atmospheres, drones and long synthetic complaints evoke the majestic landscapes that adorn the covers of his records.

𝔸 𝕗𝕖𝕨 𝕨𝕠𝕣𝕕𝕤 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕜 ℂ𝕝𝕒𝕚𝕣 𝕆𝕓𝕤𝕔𝕦𝕣 

The piece is based on a hypnotic loop, taken from a fragment of a classical music orchestra chord, the sound of which is largely reworked. As the composition progresses, other patterns, including inverted sounds, appear to create a sense of movement, waves, and a slight confusion.For me, the progression of "Clair Obscur" could evoke a human figure, in the grip of some kind of blockage, impasse, but also of reset. As if trying to progress against the elements, to swim against the tide, while gaining ground step by step. The bass settles in to support this desire to progress, one melody answers another to create a dialogue. Then longer notes come in to guide the evolution of the whole piece.I wanted to express this need to keep moving forward. That despite the pitfalls, life goes on. That we must move forward. That we are our own unique driving force.

Ambient is a refuge. It's a space where I get more intimate, a place where I can express my different feelings. For me there is always a duality between light and shadow. A sort of in-between, a grey area where everything is mixed up. A combination of contemplation and introspection. In my latest pieces, I try to add a brighter side to explore new horizons, but without letting go of my inner emotions, my own experience. When it comes to listening to ambient music, I enjoy the eclectic and varied sound universes that artists are proposing today. Many of them have a beautiful musical world, with very strong concepts. This music adapts to many contexts. I think that we have never heard as much as we do today. Both consciously, with active and attentive listening, and in the background in film music, documentaries, in an exhibition...

[𝔼́ℂℍ𝕆𝕊𝕐𝕊𝕋𝔼̀𝕄𝔼 𝕡𝕣𝕖𝕞𝕚𝕖𝕣𝕖] Irezumi - Clair Obscur

Crossfade Sounds presents the Inner Noises EP from German producer Rheinkalk, a now-established resident artist within the label. Since making his debut in September 2024 with a remix for Seabra Monkey, Rheinkalk has become an integral part of the Crossfade family, contributing two solo EPs, the track L'Albatross to our first cassette release, and a recent remix for Madloch & Subnode's Closing Cycles.

With Inner Noises, he returns with four beautifully detailed pieces — Invisible Bodies, Neon Fracture, Muted Steps, and Vapour. Each track explores the space between electronica, dub, and ambient textures, marked by subtle rhythmic movement and an introspective atmosphere.

Balancing experimentation with emotional precision, Rheinkalk continues to refine his sound and artistic identity. Inner Noises EP stands as another thoughtful addition to the Crossfade Sounds catalogue, highlighting the label's commitment to deep, immersive, and forward-thinking electronic music.
