I approached this challenge with the utmost respect for Mr. Zimmer's work, while attempting to be as far removed from his original piece as possible. A started with finding some stems that were not as highlighted as some other elements in this cue. For example, I took the basic motif of the bells part (which was much more of a subtle color than featured theme) and made that more of a prominent foundation . Also the back round ascending string line was also featured a little more. All of which leads you in to something hopefully unexpected and welcomed at the same time. Through the years I have heard a lot of subtle roots and americana influences in Mr. Zimmer's themes , even in scores that were far removed from the style. When I heard the vocalist which was also more in the back round, I heard her in a bluegrass kind of vibe. So, needless to say I went for it. I hope you enjoy, as it was a lot of fun to do. I played mostly real instruments, sang the harmony line and sequenced nothing .


Destiny's 'Americana' Door Bleeding Fingers Contest

Inspired by Hans Zimmer’s theme ‘Destiny’s Door’. 

I used the original Synth stem, and some of the original melody has been kept.
I performed Trumpet, Cello, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Small Percussion, Claps, Cymbals & a bit of Vocals. 

KNUCKLE DOWN - Bleeding Fingers Contest

Written in less than 7 hours, this is my last-minute entry into the "Bleeding Fingers" composer's contest (http://www.hanszimmerwantsyou.com/)
So many of the entries for this contest took the sample theme and musical material in a dark, driving direction, I wanted to take it somewhere a little lighter.  Incorporating a theme of my own into the mix, I used the bits of the "Brass" and "Piano/Bells/Harp" stems.
