For the seventh chapter of our Mindgame Podcast Shows, we are hosting our Greek friend and author of our latest Mindgame EP: Nixxie. His "Hollow Scene" EP serves up two original tunes along with an incredible remix from The Mekanism. 'Hollow Scene' kicks off this fine EP with dreamy deep house beats and lush, spine tingling chords. They wash over you like waves on a hot day and are full of heart aching emotion. Dala is a more percussive number with gentle toms and congas peppering the groove and rubbery beats rolling deep under lush chords. 

This is a fantastic new EP from all. Out and available on all streaming platforms.

With this mix, i started off feeling groovy and the more i played, the more i found myself drifting. Perhaps this was directly related to my energy levels - I was tired from being up unusually early that morning - so after a few minutes I found myself drifting off mentally too, remembering the sunrise i had seen earlier, and then flashback to a sunset a few weeks back in the middle of the Pacific. And so the music got progressively deeper and deeper... til i caught myself wondering where i was going with this mix, and decided f*ck it, it is what it is, so let it be. 

I guess i dont get marks for consistency, but hopefully you'll enjoy the journey nonetheless...

Mix of the Day: Nixxie

Pioneer DJs Playground

When producing this track I wanted something Greek but recognisable, so I chose Sophia Loren’s famous bit from the 1957 film Boy On A Dolphin. 

In it, Loren sings about love, and, in what became a very well remembered verse, asks ‘what is this thing called love, what is it, that secretly drives our hearts, and makes anyone that felt it, yearn for it. Laughter, tears, sunshine, rain, our life, our beginning and end’

I wanted to keep the vocal element somewhat muffled so as to let the emotions shine through….
