This set of ten preludes is an exercise in metrical treatment. Each one is in a specified meter in line with their number in the sequence: No. 3 is in 3/4, No. 6 is in 6/8, No. 10 is in 10/8, etc. A stricture of meter is maintained within each movement. While all ten preludes will be performed in sequence this evening, each one is designed as a stand-alone piece of music. Each of the preludes serve as an homage to a specific composer:

During the plague in London, theaters were closed. Instead of writing plays, Shakespeare wrote poetry. The Sonnet EP has been launched to raise money for non-profit theaters that have had to shutter or cancel/postpone productions due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

This EP is a collection of sonnets set to music by a collective of theater makers across the US. It costs a donation - any donation of any size - to a non-profit theater effected by the shutdown.
