Musikalisch bewegt sich Mavi Phoenix zwischen Lo-Fi-Pop, Trap und modernem R&B mit einem Einschlag von Electro.[6] Der Kurier urteilte, sie singe in akzentfreiem Englisch zu zeitgenössischen Beats mit eingängigen Melodiefolgen. Besonderes Charakteristikum ist ihr Auto-Tune-affiner Sound, der sich vor allem in ihrer mittels VST-Plugin nachbehandelten Stimme äußert. Zu ihren musikalischen Vorbildern gehören neben Rappern wie Left Boy, Kanye West, Drake oder Tyler, The Creator die Popsängerinnen Miley Cyrus und Lady Gaga. Ihr eigenes Schaffen wurde bereits mit jenem von Alternative-Weltstar M. I. A. verglichen.[3][4][8]

Mavis erste EP mit dem Titel My Fault entstand unter der Mitwirkung von Left-Boy-Produzent Simon Herzog. Sie veröffentlichte die sechs Songs im August 2014 auf ihrer Website als Gratis-Download. In der Folge wurde der Radiosender FM4 auf die Schülerin aufmerksam und verschaffte ihrer ersten Single Green Queen beachtliches Airplay. Noch vor dem Schulabschluss verpflichteten Bilderbuch die Newcomerin als Support für ihre Tournee durch Deutschland, Österreich und die Schweiz. Ein vorläufiger Durchbruch gelang ihr 2016 mit der Single Quiet, die wochenlang Platz eins sowie Platz zwei der Jahreswertung der FM4-Charts belegte. Das Lied stellt ein Statement gegen die Lautstärke unserer Zeit dar („Make the world go quiet“) und erhielt ein in Berlin, unter anderem im Treptower Park produziertes Video. Das US-Magazin The Fader bezeichnete die junge Künstlerin als „bezaubernde Lo-Fi-Heldin“. Ihre zweite EP Young Prophet erschien ihm Frühjahr 2017 beim eigenen Label LLT Records und wurde vom DJ Alex the Flipper co-produziert. Die Veröffentlichung eines Debütalbums ist für das Jahr 2017 geplant.
