ROUDANI 434» est l’un des projets réalisés au cours de la résidence. Conçu par Paul Armand- Delille en collaboration avec des musiciens de la vallée du Souss et de la région du Haut Atlas. Les enregistrements ont ensuite été mixés à la SIRA, ancienne imprimerie à Asnières sur Seine et quartier général de MAD Agency.

La pochette a été réalisée par l’artiste Thomas Mailaender à partir d’anciennes photographies africaines. Elle résulte d’un travail de colorisation à l’aquarelle.

￼Dans cet EP, Paul Armand-Delille nous offre un instantané musical de Taroudant, ville-carrefour des cultures l’Atlas marocain. On y retrouve les sonorités gnawa : la basse guembri et le son métallique des caracavas avec Abdallah Roudani et son groupe, les chants de Moncif Bouboul. On découvre également la voix puissante du poète Simo Baala, et le chant inspiré d’Andrey Zouari qui côtoie le Violon berbère, la flute en roseau, ou l’Oud. Paul y pose à son tour, des solos de guitare flamenco, ainsi qu’une production léchée mêlant synthétiseurs analogiques et touches subtiles électroniques.

L’EP « ROUDANI 434 » est l’aboutissement d’un travail d’échange culturel et créatif. Il regroupe cinq titres fleuves où les musiciens s’expriment à tour de rôle, par des solos ou par des textes en arabe, anglais ou français, dans un cercle musical où chacun prend tout à tour la parole comme le veut la tradition gnawa.

La concrétisation du projet s’est traduite par une performance réunissant chants traditionnels, instruments divers et séquences électroniques ; pour le plaisir d’un public roudanais peu habitué à voir sa culture locale revisitée.

Après avoir été diffusé sur des bornes d’écoute pendant les expos du ‘434’, l’EP «ROUDANI 434» arrive sur les plateformes numériques le 21 juin 2013.

Globe-trotting beatmaker Captain Planet returns to soundsystems worldwide with his hotly anticipated sophomore album Esperanto Slang, a transformative LP which further illuminates the “Gumbo Funk” producer’s fluency in breaking boundaries between genres and bridging continents through rhythm. Steeped in finely-tuned collaborations with artists from across the map, the album documents the Captain’s continued musical travels in the wake of his critically-acclaimed 2011 debut album Cookin’ Gumbo and subsequent ‘Mystery Trip’ beat-tape (heralded “Best Music of 2012” by Sasha Frere-Jones in The New Yorker). 

Led by the smashing Latin-House single “Un Poquito Mas” featuring Spanish lyrics from fellow international beats don Chico Mann(Soundway), the album also finds Captain Planet traveling South to join forces with esteemed Argentinian electronic chanteuse La Yegros (ZZK) on “Que Quiero Volver”, as well as Brazilian artists Samira Winter and Nevilton on the Samba heater “Tudo de Bom”. Jumping to the motherland, “Safaru” showcases the Sudanese vocalist and NPR darling Alsarah’s soaring Arabic vocals, with horn arrangements by L.A. brass legend and Kelis’s bandleader Todd Simon. A banging Bachata-infused club anthem “Perdido en el Excesso” further weaves a transcontinental thread with the help of Berlin-based rapper Paco Mendoza, while the crushing reggae vibes of the album’s 7-inch single “In The Gray” brings the islands to the West Coast with the help of soul singer Brit Laurén backed by horns from supergroup The Lions (Ubiquity). 

Throughout the entire album, border-crossing collaborations on both vocal and instrumental tracks seamlessly translate the musical synergies between global dancefloor cultures. Blending a wide range styles from NY hip-hop, UK bass and Turkish psychedelic, to Nigerian afrobeat and Amazonian funk, Esperanto Slang demonstrates that Captain Planet’s trademark sound has matured into a truly unique form of electronic music, connecting scenes and languages worldwide through his mellifluous sonic thesaurus.

Fortuna Records brings you one of the rarest, most exotic recordings to ever come out of the Middle East. This lost and forgotten record is the true meaning of east meets west and is bound to leave you craving for more.
In the late sixties, Israel had a large Yemenite community in which original folk artists started blending western instrument into traditional songs. The biggest name of the time was the innovative Aharon Amram, who was the first to introduce electric guitars, bass, Farfisa organs, and drum kits to traditional Yemeni rhythms, conventionally played by tapping fingers on an olive-oil tin can. Tsvia Abarbanel and 'Piamenta's Guys' took a few steps ahead into the unexplored territory of Yemenite jazz. The synergy between Albert Piamenta, one of Israel's leading funk and jazz arrangers, and Tzvia Abarbanel with her extraordinary voice and haunting melodies, is something like Mulatu Astatke meets Yma sumac. The strange rhythm patterns, the enchanted performance of the musicians and the amazing voice of Tsvia all come together to create a raw and unique style, capturing the sound of the warm desert wind and its glowing dust.
