After the 2019 release Kite EP, the Russian based artist Diskette, returns to No Static. Nikita Kropachev, who also is known for his releases on Soviett Records, drops a three track EP entitled 'Diskette Goes To Vinyl Skies'
Expect emotionally captivating melodies, slick synths and solid grooves.

The release beginnings with the sublime 'Vinyl Skies'. This superb track captures a special mood with warm analogue tones, tasteful atmospheric synths and chunky percussion. The track keeps you engaged as it progressively builds layer by layer, becoming most powerful towards the later half of the track. This psychedelic journey is sure to captivate the dance floor.

Keeping things moving forward and a diving a little deeper Diskette delivers 'Nine Lines'. This track has a cosmic synth arpeggio, that adds movement to the track, rising and falling in intensity. Thick sub bass joined with the synth pads, help glide this track along to new dimensions. The dreamy breakdown is almost angelic with echoing
vocal samples and water field recordings.

Rounding off the release, we have the soul-stirring 'Sakhalin'. This powerful, yet delicate track would melt many hearts towards the end of a set. The motivating synth melody keeps you locked in, whilst the light percussion and drums keep the rhythm moving. The fanciful and almost dolphin like tones, glide across the stereo field, creating a thick atmosphere.

No Static spice things up again with another hot hot single, this time coming from Russia’s talent Audio Luxury and vocalist Tiara and backed up by 3 on points remixes coming from Blue Azure, Olej and Quely. 

After the well-received James Rhod’s single and the outstanding Irregular Disco Workers’ remix,  Nu Disco imprint No Static freshens up things and drops another gem coming from Russian Audio Luxury and the lovely voice of Tiara. The pair has been working together for quite a while, and they have created their own sound, mixing grooves and melodies of Deep House with the loved up atmospheres and the catchy bass-lines of Nu Disco. We couldn’t let their ‘Every Kiss’ go and, after been included in the latest Nang’s Array compilation, here for you our new release. Alongside the super catchy radio friendly original version we also put together a great ensemble of remixers: Blue Azure, Olej and Quely. 

Things kick off with the original version: a slow Nu Disco groove is carefully merged with a warm deep bass line and with dreamy synth melodies while Tiara’s vocals drive the cut into loved up atmosphere..  Blue Azure’s version is next: 808 electro patterns are mixed with moody synth melodies, shifting things into a more old school 80’s sounding jam, still groovy, still strong on the dance floor. The third cut in the package is Olej’s re-work: permeated by a summery vibe, the track starts with funky guitar riffs which slowly grow followed by its relentless drums’ loops and Olej’s magically uplifting job on the melodies which kicks in in a long but effective break. Quely’s version is a romantic interpretation of the original track, sampling the vocals and fusing them with wobbly bass line and a sweet crescendo of pads and chords.

Next on No Static we take a short trip back in time with Sheffield, UK based eclectic Duo, Hiem.  Hiem's music mixes dance, electronica, and pop. The band core is made up of Nick "Nicco" Eastwood was a former member of Sheffield band Venini and David "Bozz" Boswell, He was a collaborator with Sheffield collective All Seeing I records under the alias of Bozzwell for different labels, including Suicide Recordings and Firm Records Koln.  Following up from their 2011 album (which featured collabs with Phil Oakey and Roots Manuver, amongst others) the guys are back with a new (old) release.

Nestled away as a B-side of a 2004 single was a mighty fine B-side by the name of "Japanese Motor Car".  When we were approached about a re-release here at No Static we jumped at the chance.   The original has a smooth 80s groove and upbeat optimistic groove which is probably the reason why the track has been a staple of live sets for over 10 years now.  It still sounds great, live and on the record.

On the remix tip we went for a maximum 80s approach and hooked up with label mates Hot Hot Hawk who crank the groove and instrumentation up to an 11 on the 80s scale.

Eriq Johnson, a producer, a DJ, a label owner and a founder of the production group "Musicheads". He been in the game since 1995 and hails from Berlin. Eriq Johnson shows different facets of his talent being very successful in various music genres such as electro, house,  lounge, tech and disco

The EP opens up with "Stick Up". It a perfect 'mis-mash-up' of female 80s vocals, power Nu-disco and darting tech-synths. It's a hard one to pin and put in a genre but we do know one thing.. this tune has the swang! Sqootie Jackson doing a fine job on the vocal duties.  

The remix comes from mysterious European producer "Italo Brutalo". We are not sure where he is from we had to deal via with him via a network of secret spies.  The results are fine though. He cranks the 80s vibes and channels Freeze A-E-I-O-U.

Rounding off the EP is the floor led tech disco stomper called "Breakpoint". If tech-disco is in fact a genre then this progressive, chunky track full of muscular tracks surely would fit right in.

No Static's next release comes from label-newcomer Sergey Silvertone. The Russian is a man of many talents as a DJ, producer, musician and broadcaster, and on 'Don't Let Music Die' he lets his skill and dexterity shine through in the form of two thumping, bass line-heavy Disco tracks.

Opening track 'Don't Let Music Die' is a call to arms; an ethereal, dance floor-ready anthem with a hopeful message. A guttural, heavily-effected voice resolutely demands that we keep music alive while spiraling synths and a staccato bass line envelop the listener in the world of the track.

'I'm Coming Down' ups the ante. At a higher BPM, the comparatively frenetic track is a peak-time banger, designed to extract the final ounces of energy from club crowds across the world. 

Most impressive with Sergey's sound is his hard-hitting four-to-the-floor percussion that creates an inescapable groove across both tracks. We're eagerly awaiting for more to come from Sergey Silvertone after this fantastic release on No Static.

The Russian producer effortlessly blends analog and digital, live instruments and programmed synths and percussion, to create lush sonic landscapes. His skillful manipulation of rhythm, learned no doubt during his first years as a musician making hip hop beats for independent artists, shines through in his poppy approach to funk and disco. 

'Nitelights' opens with an addictive funk groove that leads into an airy, stripped down, synth pop-influenced break, while 'Treasure' is more subdued throughout with its subtle jazz influence and comparatively muted drum section. The two tracks compliment each other excellently and 5 Reasons' ability to mix upbeat groove with brooding melody and harmony is noteworthy.

Icelandic-born and Brooklyn-based musician and designer Halli Civelek drops his first official release as Wanton Boys Club. Single 'You Are OK & The Mandarin' is a bouncy, space-disco epic with nods to italo disco and early 90's house. The single also recalls the disco funk of acts like Eddie Grant and Lipps Inc with its delicately jittery instrumentation.

Full of gloriously constructed synths and an immersive funk groove, you can easily get lost in Civelek's music. The project strikes an inescapably playful tone and its precise percussion and classic electro-disco style arpeggiated synths are mesmeric and full of life.

All Through The Night (Venice Beach Remix)

ESCORT is definitely not your typical band. Escort is big. Literally. The seventeen-member “disco orchestra”, founded by producers Eugene Cho and Dan Balis, and fronted by lead singer Adeline Michèle, features an incredible cast of musicians who have played with everyone from indie-rock titans Arcade Fire to avant-classical luminaries Alarm Will Sound.

No Static Recordings is excited to announce a ten track album of remixes of classic Escort tracks, by some of the Disco and House scenes key players including Greg Wilson, Ewan Pearson, Max Essa, Leftside Wobble, Proper Heat, Venice Beach, Jkriv, Black Russian and Sub Swara. Available on CD and digitally at all good music stores this Summer. 

Escort burst on to the scene in 2006 with a string of critically acclaimed 12”s that included future classics “Starlight” and “All Through The Night”, both DJ staples that get still get plenty of play on dancefloors. As DJs nursed their electro-clash hangover with a seemingly never ending stream of disco edits, Escort stood out, in part, by creating dance music the old fashioned way: with impeccable production, musicianship, and song-writing. The following several years saw them bring the same uncompromising approach to their live show. In an era where dance music is dominated by samples and computers, Escort took a sprawling ensemble to the stage and developed a reputation as one of New York’s most compelling live acts, capable of performing their elaborate recordings note for note.
