here is another outtake from 1999. take 2 of the song TO THE TEETH. there’s no band kicking in to play an outro at the end. it’s just me and my bass player JASON MERCER sitting on the landing above the stairs at kingsway studio in new orleans (now long gone) playing the song.
a few notes on this 23-year-old tune:

the glorification of the gun-wielding cowboy, gangster, vigilante… the reinforcement on the nightly news of the threat of poor people, black people — turning the terrorized into the image of the terrorizer is NOTHING compared to the toxicity of FOX NEWS and an unregulated internet. i just had no idea — as none of us could’ve in 1999 — how far fear-mongering and hate speech could lead us. 
when you encounter hate online — say something —do something. when you see fox news on in public spaces — complain — say something — do something. when you hear the lies of fox news regurgitated out of people’s faces — say something — and most importantly: VOTE.
VOTE FOR PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT GUN CONTROL. STOP VOTING FOR PEOPLE WHO TAKE MONEY FROM THE NRA.
voting is our superpower and it is under threat. the very foundation of democracy is under threat. there are more and more brilliant, young, diverse, dynamic and courageous people stepping up and running for office every day. support them, get behind them, spread the word — wherever they are. we are all connected.
it is within our power to stop white supremacy, fascism, patriarchy and the slaughter of our sisters and brothers — our children. it is within our power to stop the death and destruction of climate change. "Joey Zampella has been creating & recording music professionally for more than 30 years. Especially known for his guitar work in the bands Life Of Agony and Stereomud, Joey has succeeded in putting records out on Columbia (Sony), Epic (Sony), and Roadrunner, just to name a few. His combined record sales topple over one million, and continue to grow year after year.  Joey is also an established record producer, engineer, and post audio editor, mixer and designer for film, TV and video.  His current studio, “The Nest”, is located in Long Island, NY where he produces records for clients, and also has the ability to do full fledged audio production for the TV/ film world.  "Music, production, mixing, all needs to move me. It absolutely needs to have emotion behind it" says Joey, "I allow my creativity, or whatever I do for my clients, to be driven by a voice inside me.. It's the only way".

Orchestral-pop, piano-violin duo, Gracie and Rachel, released their sophomore album, Hello Weakness, You Make Me Strong, on Righteous Babe in September of 2020. About the duo Ani says, “Their ethereal and provocative songs are a cinematic addition to the Righteous Babe Records cadre of feminist artist-activists. They sing softly but carry a big stick.” 

Gracie and Rachel sat down with Ani over a video call recently to discuss the new music, vulnerability, and the importance of their over-involved, working-living relationship and the subsequent feminine strength that resulted in the making of this record.

No Wake is the musical outlet of Eli Nowak, a New Jersey-based songwriter/musician. Eli has performed and recorded over the past twenty-plus years in a variety of New York/New Jersey-based bands and collectives, including DocFlo (formerly known as John Ho), Nozekas, and One Night Fall. He has appeared on a number of independent releases, including having provided lead vocals with the band The Donkey Punch on ‘Tribute of the Year’, a Faith No More tribute record released on Underground, Inc. The most recent EP by No Wake entitled "Soundwaves" was written, performed, and recorded by Eli and mixed/mastered by Bobby Torres at Frightbox Recording in Passaic, NJ.
