Musuama emerges from the aether onto NHS with 'Bailes Mudos'; being their first release and foray into the world of leftfield esoterica electronica. Hailing from Brazil with time spent in Mexico, Musuama’s exploration of synthetic sonics is fuelled by a healthy background in trained musical knowledge and an ever-present aura of genres like cumbia, reggaeton, guaguancó and festejo to name a few. The artist speaks further on this: ‘I was confronted by the constraints imposed by the timbral limitations of traditional instruments and recognized the transformative impact of technology on artistic expression. I believe that by embracing technological advancements across artistic fields, both the listener and the artist stand to gain by fostering an even deeper connection with creativity’.

The collection is transient in its collage of sound artefacts; a spaciousness encapsulates the artist's approach to their productions that is meshed with pulses of texture and an ephemeral fluctuation of echoes, delays and reverb; as if we are inserted into Musuama’s personal journey through cultures characterised by sound. Throughout, the release carries a sense of subtlety, hypnotised by a steady march that permeates through the homogenous story that is told via the EP.

Presenting Poztman's debut album on Outtallectuals, "Blood, Steel & Rust"; a powerful tale of resilience and the human spirit’s tenacity in the face of catastrophe.

Continuing the conceptual story set in the previous Rites of Calling EP, the story follows Alix, a mentor in a once-thriving village, as he navigates the aftermath of a devastating corruption unleashed by his gifted pupil, Nyathi. Forced into exile, Alix and the surviving villagers seek refuge and a cure from the enigmatic Rust Witch. Despite their overwhelming loss, they muster the courage to confront the darkness and reclaim their village. This gripping narrative delves into themes of loss, redemption, and the strength of community, painting a vivid picture of hope amid despair and the unyielding determination to rebuild from the ashes.

Sonically, the tracks merge folklore & tribal elements with futuristic electronic music, borrowing from drum n bass, electronica, bass, garage and ambient music, while not really catering to any specific sub-genre.

Plastician delves back into the territory of dusty, broken rhythms on his latest release for Terrorhythm inside it's 21st year of operations.
 
Trance stutters, drill inspired basslines and drums with so much dirt on them they could be ripped directly off the floor of a second hand vinyl shop. It's new from Stish, but the nostalgia on this one still hits somehow, evoking memories of productions predating the Youtube tutorial era where the loudness war took it's stronghold on the majority of electronic music's output.

Twelve: A number that conjures myriad connotations. For most of us it’s the essential measurement of black gold, the source of mystery that can only be extracted through a fine stylus. For others, it’s a way of measuring half days and dozens, zodiac signs or apostles. For Sorrow, it’s his latest EP.

Five stark, soul-arresting narratives deep, once again the Bristol beatsmith compounds his distinctive icy, introspective signature with rich detail, emotion and cavernous shadowy dynamics. His first full solo release of 2017, and his first EP on Inspected in over two years, ‘The Twelve’ follows a run of critical excursions, cameos and collaborations on the likes of Fent Plates and White Peach and continues to build on his unique status within the electronic game.

From the opening house subversions and foggy, mystical humanised textures of ‘Want U Back’ right through to the final smouldering beat abstractions and soft groans of the breath-taking title track finale, the entire EP is a trip into Sorrow’s innermost soul. In between we’re hit by the two-step trickery of ‘Reverie’, the heavy haze of ‘Frumoasa’ and the unabashed slo-mo gully of ‘Sheol’, each chapter telling its own Sorrowful tale, alluring you and spurring you to further corners of your thoughts… conjuring myriad connotations, like all good sources of mystery should.
