This set was recorded from listed's Tyrant on the Tikki party during Miami Ultra Week. The Tikki boat parties are consistently the best parties in Miami. That combined with opening for DJ legends Tyrant (Lee Burridge + Craig Richards) made this gig really special for me. The first half of the mix is pretty chill as the boat was sitting around the dock as people were boarding...An hour into it, the boat set sail and I picked up the pace for the kids to start dancing...

Caines is a Bespoke Musik Resident, based in Tulum, Mexico. Aka Matt Caines, he is a creative producer, extending his roots through music, experiential design, and the built environment.  A New York native, he has produced events internationally, leading teams from all over the world to create a haptic and participatory space that moves people, causes a reaction, instigates change.


The power of Caines is his ability to persuade you - simply by feeling the music. His style is sophisticated, evoking emotion through rhythmic vocals and a curated atmosphere, be it water-side melodies or warehouse deep. He has mastered his main spark; acutely sensitive to momentum, his music unleashes your human animal, playing with musical triggers to propel the crowd into their natural balance of movement and ritual.


Caines continues to explore the power of musical platforms by pushing cultural exchanges of new sounds, living a nomadic lifestyle around the world. With an initiative to connect purpose and place, he has humbly joined the team of Art With Me (Tulum) as Executive Producer. His personal ethos and musical curations prove just this: “Greatness can only come from knowing the fine balance of our limitations and walking that edge with unwavering confidence and conviction. The more we experience that edge, the better we become.”

Sunday morning, pre-dawn.
I stumbled back toward camp, exhausted but elated after a spectacular day and night, two burns, two CPL events, and personally culminating my exhilarating set on Bhima the Dragon. 
"Finally, I can relax."
 
However, mere moments after resting my weary body on the Morning Joint balcony, I was kidnapped by a wild gang of Kraken and chained to their submarine. They were no mood for rest, instead determined to pillage bounty from the other camps in our village, and they demanded music for their crazy adventures.
 
Initially I protested, my head coming up with 100 excuses. 
Too tired, too late, too cold, no sunscreen (!), not prepared, not part of my expectations… 
But the Kraken simply smiled, promised it would be OK, and soon we were away on the K-Sub, welcoming the magnificent sunrise over the paddock.
 
Once in the groove, and with my protests falling on deaf tentacles, I rediscovered the truth - that playing a sunrise set at Seed had actually been my dream for this year, but one that I had given up on. Although I wasn't "prepared" for this set at all, I had so many beautiful tunes that I had been collecting for this exact moment.
 
As usual this year, the most magical moments came when I let go of expectations, listened to my friends, and listened to my heart.

I am so grateful for the space to experience this incredible, surreal day, night and day with like-minded souls.

dengelman - Burning Seed 2019 - A Very Kraken Sunrise

For the holiday edition we invited an extraordinary duo to the Schirmchendrink counter: please fasten your seatbelt for Moullinex & Xinobi’s fantastic “Golden Hour” Cocktail.

You might have noticed that we venture an excursion into other genres from time to time, and we have saved a very special one with this last episode of 2019. 

Hailing from Lisboa, Moullinex and Xinobi today are synonym for the driving underground electronic music scene in the capital city of Portugal. 

Moullinex, was surrounded by music and musicians during childhood and since an early age has been solely dedicated to the pursuit of his own sound, refusing to adhere to a specific genre or scene, but taking comfort in disco and house as a starting point. 

If there is a common trait between his productions, it’s the craft of melodies, a strong degree of human touch in machine- based music, unpretentious synthesizers, desperate guitars, striking basslines, and beats reminiscing from a not so distant dancefloor past. Luis often collaborates with Xinobi - in fact, most of the electric bass you’ll hear in his productions is responsibility his friend and co-founder of their imprtint Discotexas.

Moullinex established himself as one of the leading artists in the scene, with his own productions as well as remixes of acts like Røyksopp, Cut Copy and Two Door Cinema Club or a collaboration with Peaches. He has released three studio albums and most recently a wonderful jazzy house production named “AZUL”, together with Xinobi. 

Xinobi’s album ‘On The Quiet’ was released in 2017 including the lead hit-single ‘Far Away Place’, which got an enormous revival last year due to the remix of Keinemusik’s Rampa. 

Releases on Anjunadeep and MoBlack and remixes for artists such as Tensnake, The Avener, Nicolas Jaar, Riva Starr and many more prove Xinobi’s ability to re-arrange amazing music into a whole new universe. 

It was in 2011 when Moullinex and Xinobi decided to join forces. Today both artists, either individually or as a duo, are among the biggest exports that Portugal’s electronic scene has to offer.
