Title track from Kiko Navarro’s latest album, released in March 2017 on BBE, ‘Everything Happens For A Reason’ is presented here in its original 7 minute incarnation, alongside remixes from Kyodai and Myles Bigelow, plus an edit by Vince Watson.

Moved by Steve Reich’s ‘Music For 18 Musicians’, which he caught live at a concert in SIngapore, then impressed by Kerri Chandler’s ingenious re-imagining of ‘6 Pianos’ (also by Steve Reich), Kiko Navarro was inspired to utilise the piano’s percussive attack as the main rhythmic device in a House track. Calling on his regular collaborator (and piano teacher) Isis “Apache” Montero, Kiko explained his concept and the two gradually built up a compelling, syncopated and potent groove. Taking in tribal, orchestral, latin, afro and tech sounds, ‘Everything Happens For A Reason’ is a moving and poignant piece of House music, topped off with spine-tingling vocals added by Isis “Apache” Montero which call to mind the lyric-free, syllabic singing style made famous by Karl Jenkins’ ’Adiemus’ records.

German duo Kyodai have been making major waves on the global House scene for some years now with releases on Freerange, Compost, Pokerflat and Mad Mats’ high flying Local Talk label. Their remix transitions from tough percussion groove into anthemic piano house workout and back again, dispensing a carefully metered dose of dance-floor magic. Multitalented Canadian musician and DJ Myles Bigelow delivers an uplifting version, adding eastern percussion and vivid synth lines. Vince Watson’s subtle edit introduces a smooth melodic techno atmosphere, extending the arrangement out into a vast sonic expanse. An instrumental version is included in the package for the purists, as is a ‘Beatless’ mix, which makes for an intriguing DJ tool, or simply a powerful sunset soundtrack for those chilled terrace sessions.

I am quite sure there was a Young Marco record that went through 8 testpressings. This one wasn’t as bad but still quite frustrating but a good reminder why Skynet will always be more efficient than people! Some smartass on Discogs thinks this has been released in March already, so I guess we are only 9 months late. A proper baby even!! Don’t know how much I have to stress that Soulphiction is one of my biggest heros, a German guy who always nails the soulful sound of Chicago and Detroit like a robot himself. And his label Philpot has been a huge inspiration for Lumberjacks in Hell and Intimate Friends... parking lot Blues is finally real!!! And coming on Monday!!! I feel a lot of relief! Such a wonderful release and we were so excited for the whole time!! Glad to finally share it with you!! <3

When I first set out on this journey this was one of the very first tracks that I had a go at mixing. I was very much a newbie then
and even though I posted it on SC I really wasn't very happy with it and therefore never made it downloadable.
Looking back I was pretty clueless when I first did it but now I'm that I'm a little older and a little wiser I'm happy to report that I 
still am!! 

Anyways, I had a lot of requests for the original mix so decided to have another stab at it. You're all clever cookies so I'll let you figure what I've done to it :))

It has been a hot summer and the mighty Morris Audio 106 compilation provides the soundtrack for more hot autumn nights and days. „34 degrees“ has some real talent to offer: Simon Hinter (Freerange), Shaka (Local Talk), Alfonso Bottone (Moiss Music) and Baeka (Henry Street Music). Real deep house and some disco flavoured stuff will make it to 34 degrees!

I adore Adrianna Evans. Her tunes are quite simplistic but her voice carries everything through so beautifully.
This was just supposed to be a quick extended edit this morning to go on my iPod but got itchy fingers and ended up 
adding some flute, jazz trumpet and all sorts!
