Legwork’s Footage Series enlists two up-and-comers from the San Francisco Bay Area. Sepehr is a regular DJ on the SF club and warehouse scene, making waves in early 2018 on the @honeysoundsytem label. Justin lives and works across the bay in Oakland, and can be found at many of the same parties. Bottom line is you’ll be hearing more from these two in the future. Following up after the recent Circadian Rhythms release is Sebastian S under his Caustic 14 alias with a yummy yummy double 12” six tracker full of speedy bleep science breakbeat and colorful jungle techno compositions that could only be made in BRUXHELL (aka Brussels). The selection is a patchwork of various unreleased works from around 1993 to 1996.

A silent witness of these rave-days said the following about the production process of the tracks on this new Basic Moves release:

“We were eager to share our individual sound universes with each other and see where it would take us. These compositions emerged during many sleepless nights spent watching videos of science fiction series such as Babylon 5 or Star Trek, scrutinising each episode while composing.”

Funnuvojere’s latest instalment, Minority Resist, comes from Czech Republic and it’s signed by Martin Kuška under his moniker Goodbye Mirage.

Martin has been performing and producing ambient and synthy compositions under his real name for many years, releasing a few LPs for the US cassette labels Sacred Phrases and Origin Peoples, mostly influenced by writing, drawing and photography, as well as by the rhythms of village life. 

Funnuvojere’s new ethereal EP interweaves nostalgia for the past and reflections on the present. The EP is imbued with Martin’s memories of discovering Berlin’s Love Parade, the golden cradle of 90s trance and progressive house. Emotional tension and unexpected polymeters characterise the EP, with minimalistic notes rippling back from a distant future. Careful design produces a unique sound and grain that will blissfully envelop those lucky enough to hear it played.

Too Smooth Christ - Zero

On the 12th of April 1961, Yuri Gagarin was launched into orbit for the first and - so they tell us - the last time. Upon returning to Earth, Yuri became a global hero, travelling the world to tell of his adventure. Secretly, he was plagued by strange hallucinations and a persistent glow around his vision; a cornucopia of colour in a constant corona. At first fearing madness, the cosmonaut came to see these apparitions as a signal, an invitation, a welcoming beacon from a distant lighthouse blinking across the cosmic void. 

Taking inspiration from early Detroit techno culture, under the moniker Tony Neptune Leeds-based producer and artist Sam Jefferies is on a mission to tell a multi-sensory story through image, sound and text. A talented DJ and part of the Dimensions DJ Directory family, Sam has become synonymous with deep diving marathon sets both as Tony Neptune and as Yuri, solo or alongside fellow Leeds stalwart Mark 'Turbo' Turner.

After working hard on his production efforts over the last few years, his debut EP Reflections on a Daring Escape is finally seeing the light of day on Twelve Comets. Both sonically and aesthetically (Sam's visual work as a painter is at the core of the release), the 4-track release journeys deep into the cosmos, touching on the more celestial, emotive elements of electro and techno.
