Good mood, not to hard to start,

We haven't been to active around here, because the offline world has finally taken back it's place this summer. Zugvøgel Festival and IRGENDWO were just ridicilously good this year. That energy recharge was missed for so long and we are just head over heels in love with being part of partys again. 
To keep you warm and cozy we went a bit special on the 20th episode of our podcast. 
we love warmups are two connaisseurs of organic down and midtempo music, spiked with dreamy vocals and rough cuts. They had the honour to spent some lazy times on infamous Heuballern (built by the great Minha Galera and @draussenverlaufen)@Zugvoegelfestival, Udenbreth. This set includes tracks by the likes of @luimafuta, @acud, @vicnorman, @casimir-music, @wanduta1 @kalamanmusic, @twerkingclassheroes, @unambeat, @Pshiuu and others.
Big ups to all the people, who made this summer fun for other humans. Culture loves you!

Our No. 224 comes today from an artist who accompanies me for what feels like an eternity and since then always knows how to inspire with his new productions. You can definitely call him a connoisseur of downtempo, because he stands for me emblematic for the rise of the subgenre and has shaped the scene globally with his countless pieces - no still does.

We are talking about Niju who is always good for a surprise with his very special, organic but mega fascinating sound. No matter if alone or together with Ninze & Okaxy as Wide Awake (@wide-awake-8), he always provides with his playful and atmospheric way in his productions, remixes, edits and also sets for special experiences on the dancefloors, living rooms, bedrooms as well actually on all ears in the world. At least on all those who can appreciate downtempo. Definitely for me as a big downbeat fan. Then, now and tomorrow definitely too. I'm sure of it.

His set recorded for us is emblematic of his sound. To me, the whole tape basically feels like a typical Niju production, only in XXXXXXL format. At the beginning velvet soft and dreamy, yet discreet groovy and later from and then also danceable. And all garnished with a good portion of hypnotic elements like cranky voices and partly indefinable sound fragments. Great. Definitely a typical Niju, who joins our podcast series with his 2.5 hour journey like painted.

Buckle up... I can only repeat myself, but you can expect a journey made for an afterhour. Not a phrase, not fake news, but honest words from a music loving Spessarter.

Unsere Nr. 224 kommt heute von einem Künstler welcher mich seit einer gefühlten Ewigkeit begleitet und seither immer wieder mit seinen neuen Produktionen zu begeistern versteht. Man kann ihn definitiv als Connaisseur des Downtempo’s bezeichnen, da er für mich sinnbildlich für den Aufstieg des Subgenre steht und mit seinen unzähligen Stücken die Szene global geprägt hat – nein immer noch tut.

Die Rede ist von Niju  der mit seinem ganz speziellen, organischen aber mega faszinierenden Sound immer wieder für eine Überraschung gut ist. Egal ob alleine oder zusammen mit Ninze & Okaxy als Wide Awake (https://soundcloud.com/wide-awake-8), so sorgt er stets mit seiner verspielten und stimmungsvollen Art in seinen Produktionen, Remixen, Edits und auch Sets für besondere Erlebnisse auf den Dancefloors, Wohnzimmern, Schlafzimmern….ja eigentlich auf allen Ohren der Welt. Zumindest auf all denjenigen, die dem Downtempo etwas abgewinnen können. Für mich als großen Downbeat Fan definitiv. Damals, heute und morgen auch. Da bin ich mir sicher. 

Sein für uns aufgenommenes Set steht sinnbildlich für seinen Sound. Mir kommt das ganze Tape im Grunde vor wie eine typische Niju Produktion, nur im XXXXXXL Format. Anfangs samt weich und verträumt, dennoch dezent groovig und später ab und dann auch tanzbar. Und alles garniert mit einer gehörigen Portion an hypnotischen Elementen wie verschrobenen Stimmen und teils undefinierbaren Klangfetzen. Klasse. Definitiv ein typischer Niju, der sich mit seiner 2,5 stündigen Reise wie gemalt in unsere Podcast Reihe einreiht. 

Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise, die wie gemacht für eine Afterhour ist. Keine Phrase, keine Fake-News, sondern ehrliche Worte eines musikverliebten Spessarters.

Ich danke dir vielmals Niko für dieses besondere Set. Umwerfend tiefenergreifend und erfrischend gut. Chapeu.

"I recorded this mix on my latest Berlin trip while I was on tour. I wanted this mix to reflect on themes of longing, loss, love, and desire. I’ve recently undergone a lot of personal changes in my life, from relationships and friendships evolving to traveling quite a lot and being away from home. It’s kind of meant to be a hybrid of a playlist/mix I suppose. For me, these songs evoke a certain nostalgia, sadness, and catharsis. But hopefully some hope and joy as well. Lots of vocals and classics like Madonna, as well as some other better-known tracks. I wanted it to be a nice listening experience that's thematic more so than anything else. Could be nice to listen to while you’re at home, out for a drive, cleaning, or just want something non-abrasive to listen to."

✔️ What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

My musical background is quite colourful, so my influences are too. I've been playing guitar and singing in bands for 12 years, currently in an indie rock band, an electronica band and a Neue Neue Deutsche Welle solo project. For the Mr. Pablo thing, however, I'm already primarily inspired by genre colleagues. I'm very much into technoid downtempo, i.e. slow rave, and there are more and more great acts coming up lately :) 
 
 ✔️ What do you think makes a good afterhour?  

Great people, sun and 100 BPM.
 
 ✔️ What thoughts would you like to share with us about your mix?  

The mix was created in the club, unprepared and not knowing that it would come online. That's why there's maybe no story or elaborate dramaturgy in the set, the plan was rather only banger :D 
But maybe that's the beauty of it. Less perfection, more feeling :) or something like that. 
 
 ✔️ What did you think of the gig?   

The gig was great, it was my first time at Station Endlos and I was really excited! It was really fun <3

Hi Lovers, i'm happily presenting the music i played in garbicz on 6th of august this summer at lovely seebühne. I am glad I was able to play my set in this super rainy sunday, after so many other sets of friends were canceled. After the power went out a few times, I was finally able to play music for two hours, and wasnt expecting much after half of the festival went home already. thank you for all the lovely dancers, that stayed until the end of my set. i had a super great time with you under the roof of lovely bandstage at the seebühne. as my mama would say: There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing! :D

Affair №3 — Danger Dave X Donny Dunkel @ R_____s Bucht

With a Master degree in Consumer Psychology and a burning passion for music, Deep Filip’s musical journey blasten off exponentially in 2017. Playing at several avenues, festivals and gigs, Filip’s adventures are just getting started. The DJ and producer is based in Rotterdam — Netherlands, and a whole range of musical genres invade his musical choices — hard to define by one genre, but with influences from Africa, South America, Middle East, Easter Europe and Asia, his style can be defined as melodic, sophisticated and groovy, with a rootsy and spiritual take on electronica. Besides DJing and producing, Filip is also the head of Music & Sound at Soulvana, part of Mindvalley.   

After a three weeks gap, we return with this 186th edition, two hours positively crafted by Filip's mindset — “always different, always the same". Despite being never one-note, the selection goes through hyper-dense packages, moods and textures change subtly and effectibely yet. In this way, those 123 minutes summarize his motto:  “I like to play what I consider to be good music. If it evokes some (positive) feeling within me, if I can dance on it, if it makes my head spin or touches my heart, I will play it and pass on this emotion to you. We are all responsible for creating an amazing experience together".

Die Tage verkürzen sich. Nun übernimmt die Nacht das Geschehen und hüllt uns ein in ihre Dunkelheit. Wir zeigen uns dem Leben, suchen Kater und Katze mit knielangen Strümpfen. Unsere Blicke wandern, erforschen die Wesen um uns, während wir das Glas in unserer Hand zu den Lippen führen. Bass massiert uns den Nacken. Wir heben das Gefäß noch etwas, schielen nach mehr, doch nichts. Unsere Stiefel klackern auf dem Weg zum Rausch, die Hüften folgend. Gestiefelt mit Kater wird der Morgen erwartet.
