We are Noctilux. This album is the Collective effort of more than a handful of visionaries. Welcome to the family. 

This is our second installment in the series of Collective EP’s, differing from the last; this release is filled with a touch more bass weight. In the umbrella of bass music where most of us became familiar with each other, also encapsulating a safety blanket of sound in its own, this is Noctilux. 

We invite you to listen and gain a further taste of what we are all about by providing our listeners with months of our time and creative effort in one EP.

First on the release, you are introduced to the sound of Wolf Camo’s track “TEK”. Deep bass runs throughout the listen, making for a very interesting experience at 128 BPM. Giving a proper emotion as it pulls through the track, this makes an excellent track for any DJ to slow the rhythm down. 

“Jeep Mode” from AdamAllDay follows, an experimental Drum & Bass track that bleeds a feel of adventure. Punching bass, followed by classic break beats greet the listener into the perfect hybrid of the tribal sounds, classic bass music and drum and bass plugging you along. 

Trouble Tiger proceeds to bring you “Nomad”, a deep bass track with a very classic feel of the older styles of Dubstep that have quietly submerged below the surface of modern music for quite some time. Nomad brings back that nostalgic sound one that is extremely fresh in our corner of the world when our ears were met with the substantial sounds from the UK. Strong on the low end, meeting you with a harmonious mid range, this 140BPM track is a great segment for the mid section of a DJ set. 

HUSKIE throws you Danger, a mixture of bass and trap vibes that continues to bring more nostalgia to some of the freshest sounding blends we saw in its peak in 2012. Very playful and unique samples like lighters clicking and coughing mixed with the punching bass accompanying the whole track. This is one of those tracks that will stick with you, leaving you with an unquenchable thirst for another listen. 

Plasm closes the EP with “Decoder”, a track with proper length, proper speed, and an abundance of deep dark sounds dripping with percussion. Decoder has the immediate feeling of being deep in the dance floor at a Berlin nightclub, with the sound engineering and tension to match. An appropriate introduction into the sound of true techno, in our opinion. It brings a very interesting feel contrasting North American styles closely to Europe, Decoder gives you a taste of both, in complete focus.

The newest heater from the Noctilux clan comes from West Coast producer, Konka. Well established in Vancouver, B.C. with previous releases on Aufect Recordings, Konka joins the Noctilux family with his self-professed “heavy beats and loud noises.” Influenced by artists such as Alix Perez, Noisia, and Josh Pan, Konka amalgamates those established sounds into a composite that is all his own. Hand of God is a journey through beats, imprinted by bass music’s many identities and hints of classic 1990s electronica. 

Hand of God with his original adaption of the EP’s namesake. “Hand of God” commences with an eerie cadence and vocal sample, that establishes the dark mood within, tying the whole release together. “Intriguing isn’t it, how our faces betray us?” It’s a haunting sample, perfectly interlinking Hand of God’s elements and closing the release. 

L Nix and Outsider’s version of the EP’s title track, “Hand of God” brings traditional dubstep wobble and tempo to the forefront. The deepest track on the release, the L Nix and Outsider remix of “Hand of God is a profound expedition into audio bliss. 

The original interpretation “Fakie” kicks off with a bang, establishing an addictive melody accompanied by footwork-style beats, completely worthy of headbanging. Quickly descending into a lowend expedition of bass, “Fakie” is a comprehensive sound system workout that will inevitably flex club and festival dancefloors. 

Then a remix is courtesy of Strange Thing from Victoria, B.C. His version of “Fakie” immediately initiates dark undertones, quickly picking up velocity. The track gives way to a funky, deep bass groove, the perfect accompaniment to good times and weighty sound. 

Konka ends with “Big Street,” invokes images of electronic music’s migration to the masses. If young Liam Howlett and Trent Reznor traveled to the future and made a tune with the big bass of today it would be reminiscent of “Big Street.” Its sound evokes images of live festival music videos of yore – big stages, big sound systems, and big crowds.
