Nocturna began in 2008 between Tom Frost and James Davis, who started the project through a mutual love of symphonic metal. They began to seek out like-minded musicians, and soon enough the lineup began to take shape. By August 2012, Nocturna had the “Blood Rising” single recorded, and had begun to tour the circuit of their hometown Norwich.

After a brief period of stagnation referred to as “The Dark Era”, it was the words of Plug Studios manager Errol Watson that encouraged the band to sign up for Metal To The Masses, a competition offering a place at Bloodstock Festival as the prize. And they won!
Bloodstock 2013 got an added dose of Nocturna, which according to Tom Frost was a “crazy weekend”.

Feeding off the hype from that performance, Nocturna returned to playing shows with a buzz of morale, including several headline performances. The latter half of 2014 was spent laying the groundwork for their début EP Lucidity, which is released on 17th February 2015. It's already garnered a lot of praise, and sees the band stronger than ever as musicians and songwriters.
