Anyone who has tried to improve themselves will learn quickly that there are two voices in your head. One voice will push you towards greatness, the other will push you to weakness. They say there is freedom in discipline for a reason, because the hardest things to do in life often require the most discipline, but they result in euphoric feeling of accomplishment and success. This song is about struggling to pursue greatness and the challenges you will face trying to improve yourself and to kill the weak part of you. The reason we call the song "Odyssey" is an allusion to the book "Odyssey" by Homer, which is a story about Odysseus trying to find his way back home. Often times a journey of self improvement can feel like a perilous journey across the sea on a raft.

Loneliness can lead you to take shortcuts and let people into your life that are bad for you. Loneliness can make you feel isolated as if you were drifting through the cold vastness of space. However, if you can ignite a flame in your heart, you can keep yourself warm.

Interstellar Love

No Currency is a Chicago local surfy, ska punk power trio consisting of Alex Kritikos (Vocals and Guitar), Ryan Marx (Bass), and Dylan Turner (Drums). Life long friends Alex and Dylan began the band in high school and soon added Ryan to the mix. They released their first studio album "No Currency" in 2016 which was recorded at Handwritten Recordings by Rick Riggs. It is evident in the music that these goofy ghouls have a love and admiration of reggae music with deep rooted punk rock rage. Growing up listening to and loving bands such as Sublime and Green Day have impacted the sound of their music with some hints of surf rock music courtesy of bands like the beach boys and the ventures. The name "No Currency" was inspired by punk rock ideals and lifestyle as well as an incredibly strong disliking for governments, rules and fiat currency that dictates the lives of most of the population (plus FIDLAR is dope). Don't worry though, these boys don't hate everything! There is nothing more awesome than jamming together on Friday nights and playing Martyrs shows for friends, family and anyone who wants to get down and have a good time. Currently the band is working on a new album in Alex's studio which is planned to release this summer 2018!
