Marking the first remix package from Marco Faraone’s 2020 ‘No Filter’ LP, Radio Slave recruits fellow dance music titans Chris Liebing and Mathew Jonson for a pair of remixes on one of dance music’s most essential imprints.

Liebing steps up for the A-side, delivering a knockout take on the original. Creeping ambience and deep bass weight bubble throughout the track as additional percussion and synthesis unravel towards a climactic finish.

On the flip, Jonson turns in a distinctively delicate version, clocking in just shy of twelve minutes. Fluttering percussion swirl around off kilter chords and vocals to craft a hypnotic, dream-like atmosphere.

Anika Kunst brings her raw techno flair to Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects with the ‘Different Approach EP’ this April.

Previously releasing music on Methodical, Marco Faraone’s UNCAGE, and her Chapter Records imprint, the Spanish DJ/producer brings a four track EP of her deep, hypnotic techno to the Berlin-based Rekids Special Projects.

Across the EP, Kunst’s knack for tracky techno is on full display, fusing timeless sounds alongside fresh minimalist takes. Title cut ‘Different Approach’ begins with tight percussion over classic chord stabs, followed by ‘Tales From The Loop’, which sees rattling synthesis swirl around pumping and considered drum patterns.

‘Prism’ opts for a heads-down approach, demanding to be played in dark rooms late at night, while ‘Constant Change’ brings a relentless barrage of hi-hats and tonal hits to close the release with another welcomed dose of energy. 

Set up as the harder hitting sister label to the lauded Rekids imprint, Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects has released music from Marco Faraone, SRVD, P.leone and more since its inception in 2017.

Radio Slave and Gene Richards Jr remix Marco Faraone on ‘No Filter Remixes (Part II)’ this April on Rekids. For the second remix EP of Marco Faraone’s 2020 ‘No Filter’ LP, Rekids boss Radio Slave and WRKTRX and UNCAGE affiliate Gene Richards Jr step up to the plate and deliver two bombastic remixes of Faraone’s works.

On the A-side, Radio Slave is in stomping techno-mode with his take on ‘Addiction’, the hypnotic titular vocal meeting an onslaught of climbing-the-walls percussion and dizzying arpeggios for nine minutes of club chaos.

The B-side sees Gene Richards Jr, an artist who is winning an outstanding amount of props from a huge variety of DJs at the moment, injects shuffle and swing into the bones of ‘Frog Face’ alongside a dose of hands-on FX tweaking and pitch bending percussion, bringing a dynamic and distinct take on Faraone’s track.

With three EPs and an A-Sides cut to his name, Marco Faraone has been an invaluable label contributor, dating back to his Drumcode debut in 2013. The Italian remains one of scene’s most versatile producers, a torchbearer of both house and techno and able to craft both with masterful ease. Coming off two albums in 2020, his inspired form rolls on throughout ’21, with ‘Our Freedom’, his memorable fourth EP contribution to Adam Beyer’s label.

‘Burn Down’ is an evocative vocal-led trip, made just as much for the headphones as the dancefloors of the future. Led by layers of laser-kissed riffs and a resistance-leading vocal, the title track is an emotion-charged anthem-in-the-making. ‘Orbital’ has bags of personality and pep, bringing the vibe to a more optimistic place, with a silky melody line and plenty of effortless groove. ‘Magic Sunset’ is the cream on top; the percussion pulsating and punchy, as cascades of goosebump-inducing synths unfurl beautifully throughout the six-minute jam.

Beyer's label specialises in colossal techno that always comes armed with something a little different and 'Climax' by Faraone is some of his most brooding work yet.

Dense, Robert Hood-esque basslines and spliced vocals rumble from the off before big drops and fierce cymbals storm into the frame. The drops are bone-crushing and the synths are stadium-sized, making this super-charged track one that'll rain down hell on any soundsystem.

UNCAGE label owner Marco Faraone is back on Rekids with three massive soulful cuts entitled ‘True Love EP’.

Hailing from Tuscany, Faraone has risen to become one of Italy’s leading house and techno artists over the last fifteen years. When not performing at the likes of Awakenings, Caprices, Tomorrowland and Kappa FuturFestival, the producer has released on leading labels like Ovum, Drumcode and Be As One. Since debuting on Rekids two years ago he’s become a notable fixture on the Berlin-based imprint, dropping numerous releases including his sophomore album, and he returns again now in fine form.

Opening the release in a big way, ‘True Love’ is built on galloping kicks, rattling shakers and a murky bass throb whilst a distorted vocal sings the track title. A cacophony of percussion then joins deep synths in ‘Want Me’ before introducing a powerful diva vox, leading into ‘Safari’ with its bubbling effects, piercing stabs and swinging hats.

Spencer Parker returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids with ‘The Theme’ EP, the DJ/Producer’s most distinctive single to date.
Comprising three originals and a remix from Pink Concrete, ‘The Theme’ EP sees the Berlin-based Brit known for blending house, disco and techno delve further into his ‘80s new wave influences hinted at in his recent ‘The Love And Sex’ EP for HE.SHE.THEY.
First track ‘Theme’ is Parker at his most musical. With simple piano licks, digital strings and soaring choral swells, this is an anthemic piece that oozes class. ‘Radio Waves (After Dark)’ sees staccato synth leads play off a pulsing bass while the titular vocal sample and aesthetic recall some of Parker’s work under his lauded It’s Not Over pseudonym. Closing the originals is the arpeggio driven ‘The Work Out’, an undulating late-night cut displaying Parker’s penchant for high energy arrangements.
Prague’s Pink Concrete rounds out the EP with a driven but melodic techno interpretation of ‘Theme’.
