Interjection

During the 90s, I discovered and listened to a lot of different styles of music. This included hip-hop, and I used to listen to Norway's National Rap Show every Friday night. This was the time of the East Coast–West Coast hip hop rivalry. I didn't pay that much attention, though: I cared about the music and the beats. And I learned to like the distinctive sounds of both the typical New York style beats (which I tried to capture somewhat in my track "Interjection"), as well as the style of the West Coast or the Southern beats, which often had more synthesizers involved in the production. 

"Close of Day" is heavily influenced by these synthesizer driven beats. But it is also heavily influenced by electronica: Every Saturday, I used to listen to another radio show, DJ Abstract. He played house and techno music, which I were also heavily into in the 90s. And that lead me to later discover ambient music, which you often hear as an influence in my music.

Nod Steady is my one man free-form music project.

I got into DJing in the early 90's, and soon after, began making music. As a composer, I've mostly worked with various forms of electronic music and hip-hop, but don't really care much about genre boundaries.

As a DJ, I've blended all kinds of music with the style and finesse of a classic hip-hop scratch DJ. I've done radio shows and radio mixes, as well as collaborating onstage as a turntablist together with musicians from various genres.

The name Nod Steady is partly inspired by the hip-hop classic "The Nod Factor" by Mad Skillz, and hints at beats with a nod factor.
