This is my lyrical offering to the heroic vigilante and runaway Edward Snowden. 
Ever since his infamous rise (and fall) I have felt a kinship. 
We are both poets, of sorts.
We have both sacrificed.

Ode to Edward Snowden

I’d bring you a quiche,
To feed your soul
If only I could.

I’d knit you a blanket
To block out the cold
If only I could.

I’d find you a wife,
Or something to hold,
If only I could.

I’d run you a bath,
And wash you tenfold,
If only I could

Oh you salient renegade,
You live your life in fear.
Fleeing fast, and hiding still
Like Edgar in King Lear.

I’ll never stop searching for you,
In
My
Mind.

I’d salute you with a cask of wine,
Bring fish fingers and noodles fine,
And under starlight we would dine,
If only I could find…
You.

Ode To Edward Snowden

A controversially honest poem that addresses the ineffable ecstasy and excruciating helplessness that can trouble a man in his slumber.
No gentleman, no matter how old or gallant, is immune.
All men will succumb, but only the poet will put it into ink.


Wet Dream

Creep,
Like an erotic assassin
Into my room,
Into my bed,
Into my dreams;

Intrude into a peaceful scene
in waitrose buying margarine,
Just when I feel safe and clean,
You’ll touch my anus.

Why?
Begone, I say!
So I may return
to dreams of rhyme 
and verse.

But no.

Like Jesus, I will rise,
Like Adam, I will fall
Like Noah, I will drip.

My worthless snake peers from the flaps of my fly
Like a Russian woman 
Staring out of a window,
Awaiting the night,
With silent 
Terror.

Oh, how I envy the insomniac.
