PAPER Mix: Ross From Friends

Next up on the District 8 Mix Series is someone who we have admired for years. Hailing from Waterford, Cailín is one of the most respected and in demand DJs on the Emerald Isle. Cailin has been intrinsic to the sound of District 8, never failing to offer an array of intense and hypnotic techno records.

A resident DJ at Subject & D8, Cailín is no stranger to clubs & festivals up and down the country, including appearances for Boiler Room, ADE, Tresor as well as being a regular at Life Festival, Boxed Off and Electric Picnic. She recently released her solo debut record ‘Phantom Love Affair’ on All City Records offshoot Gurriers, 4 tracks of raw machine fueled dancefloor techno. With support from Surgeon, Dave Clarke, Tasha, Truss, Perc & others, we can’t wait to hear it on a big sound system soon!  

Cailin's D8 Mix is yet another strong testament to what makes her such a talented selector. Recorded on two turntables at District 8 as part of a livestream alongside Sunil Sharpe, Aeron and Yasmin Gardezi, this mix is as deep as it is energetic. With some choice cuts from the likes of Lag and Hadone, get ready for an hour of unrelentingly fierce music.

As we pass the anniversary of our last show at District 8 before the pandemic, this mix series has been a constant source of inspiration. We're delighted to have these mixes contributed by our favourite DJs on the island, and they serve as a reminder of what we have to look forward to. The loop techno fanatic opens with Link’s cult anthem ‘Amenity’ then pushes forward on an untiring path through jittery tracks in this playful hour and twenty mix. His busy club schedule might be on pause but unsurprising to anyone following this young talent, Stranger still brings energy in spades.
