Work My Body

I wanted to set the mood better in the beginning, then tweaked from there and such. This particular track is downtempo, almost "chill" but bummed, composed/edited on the computer. ... I know time has passed since I hoped I'd finished, but I have almost a 3rd of the song done, definitely more than this intro. For more about my 2013 read my blog. ;-)

New Intro to my WIP: One of My Ways(fades at verse)

Been meaning to get at least a bit of real singing (not intro "flair") as a vocal sample/example up on my SoundCloud, since I'm still being stubborn/picky/perfectionist in the studio with my tracks, even for more WIPs/snippets.

I've been practicing a couple of things to have at the ready in case I'm asked to sing for someone. I was inspired by Eric Arcenaux on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIDEAL4zg6s I did mess up/change the lyrics and rhyme scheme, haha. But it's basically fine for the purposes, and demonstrates one of my issues: memory. ;)

His (and thus my) version is an alteration of Euricka's "Boyfriend." All due respect/credit to all the talents involved. :)

This is also one of my first recordings with my new Shure SM58 mic! Yippee. :)

This is the backing track to a song I'm uploading in full soon, with just a couple of tweaks. :) After I uploaded the video version of this instrumental, I made a couple of volume adjustments (I also think it might sound better when not from my video program but oh well for/about YT, haha). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :D

Escape

"Escape" Instrumental

(It's really hard to pick a genre for this.)

Pounding kick, creepy synths, growling guitar, grrl vocals (including some rap) in post-genre production with indie-rebel lyrics.

“Burn” is an aggressive track about climate change, establishment “democrats” (originally inspired by Hilary Clinton) and their determination to “anoint” the DNC’s pick (fraud/rigging/contested convention), support for Bernie Sanders, plus just a little bit of swagger I couldn’t resist. 

(I couldn’t resist the line, “I’m ****in’ MADE of fire,” hehe, but I think I will perform “But we are made of fire” in exchange, which makes more sense to the heart of the cause.)

The harder beat and lyrics are a little dissonant from my “pure” voice itself, but hey, that’s just my voice and stature against my personality (like a yorkie, lol). Maybe if it’s weird, that could even be good/interesting/unique, but that’s the way my adult voice apparently remains, haha. I often put on a darker effect on purpose, and my voice ends up part angelic, part witchy. It’s pretty fun from my end. ;)

Burn

Singer-songwriter-producer making a mixed non-genre of electronic, dark/alt-pop and je ne sais quois. People call it experimental and I'm not sure what that fully means, but hey, I'm just an artist.

Also: visual artist, writer, techie, activist and mult-hat-wearing Renaissance gal.

I'm working on dance-inspired songs that will come out however they come out. ;-)The next one is still "dark," kick-heavy and quite bassy. Stay tuned.
