Leave your troubles all so far away with Clarisse’s first release of 2022. Unstoppable once again in the last 12 months with releases from Franklyn Watts, Dj Dep, EdiP, Angel Heredia, Gruuvelement’s, William Marques, volumes 4 and 5 in the Clarisse all-star series and of course label head Mendo, Clarisse continues to push only the best global groove merchants, opening the new year with Germany-born, Jamaica-raised producer Melanie Ribbe and Brazil’s Jonatas C.

‘Yesterday’ packs some vintage house vibes with its brisk ‘House Nation’-style steps and vocals taking notes from ‘Finally’, ‘Au Seve’ and ‘The Giver’. On six minutes of Chicago-born cruise control, Ribbe and Jonatas C keep things supple and minimal, easily elevating heart rates to push the party into peak hours. Mendo on the remix instructs computerised murmurings, reaching brainwashing levels in and out of the breakdown, to go to work on one of his famed funky bassline hula-hoops. Mendo simmers down the vocal into a spectral shimmer, as the straight up and down sunshine grooving comes with a tantalising edge.

A student of the London Academy of Music Production, Melanie Ribbe has realised a dance music dream first found in her childhood bedroom mixtape collection by becoming a must-see at Miami Music Week and an Ibiza residency at Amnesia. Ribbe’s schedule is always on the go, whether performing at the scene’s leading festivals, her productions moving up the Beatport charts, running her own Agape Muzik label, debuting her solo album, and showcasing what’s hot across international radio.

In the Jonatas C fanclub: Amine Edge & DANCE, Paco Osuna and Stefano Noferini, all hip to the tech house sound out of Sao Paulo that’s always advancing with new production and DJing technique and performance. Jonatas' standing is spread across imprints lead by King Street Sounds, Unnamed & Unknown and Under No Illusion, where he collaborated with Melanie Ribbe on the track ‘Salinas’. It’s a partnership sounding good for ‘Yesterday’, today and tomorrow.

Ruben Verone debuts on Ohana Label with a great 2 track Ep + a remix by BizZa. Acid sounds together with attractive vocals and an energetic groove take over "That's My Man". Synthesizers and heartbreaking vocals coupled with a groove that accompanies "Appareo" to perfection.

The knowledge of the liquid fire was kept so tightly secret that - ultimately - it got lost. This was until Greek DJ and producer George Adi (SCI+TEC) reignited the flame by signing the ninth release on La Zic, bolstered by two remixes from BizZa and FIRZA with his Liquid Fire EP. The originals wink to the minimal techno realm with tight, marching grooves, flowing sub-bass, sick arpeggios, and early 2010s minimal percs. On the remix duties, the duo of the moment and Ushuaia Ibiza DJ-contest winners FIRZA (elrow Limited) takes the track to the next level with uplifting synths, hi-octane grooves, and unwavering mainstage attitude, while Barcelona's very own BizZa (Hottrax, Tamango Records, Take Notes) keeps things nice and rolling with a bubbling and more intimate version. The flame is never subdued, and so is La Zic's sound.

"Terreta” is the way we affectionately call our land, Valencia. That is why this compilation of House and Tech House music is named “Techrreta”, in honor of our beautiful city. 

Our goal with this VA is to unite Valencian music creators and those artists who have a connection to our city, in order to raise funds to help those who need it most, rebuild animal shelters, provide food and water to those without supplies, offer clothing and repair homes that urgently need help. 

On October 29, 2024, flash floods devastated much of the southern and western areas of the province of Valencia, along with several other regions in Spain. This catastrophic event caused storm surges, collapsed bridges, and left thousands of people stranded on roads and streets, ultimately leading to a death toll that is now estimated in the hundreds and tragically continues to rise. 

Homes, animal shelters, businesses, vehicles, fields, personal property, and families have suffered immensely from this disaster, an event that surprised thousands of people on the streets, going to and from school, work, and daily life, with little to no warning. Ten hours later, dire alerts came through our phones, leading to even greater tragedy.

“Terreta” is how we affectionately call our city, our land, Valencia. That is why this compilation of House and Tech House music is named "Techrreta”, in honor of our beautiful city.

We are incredibly grateful to have a community of artists and music-making friends, both from Valencia and other cities and even countries, who have generously donated their work to help with relief efforts. Our hearts go out to all those who have suffered loss.
