A. I’ve been a part of the ny music scene since like 2017-18

Q. Tell us about this mix.
A. This mix was recorded during a moment of pure disdain… for everything. So I titled it “pissed” originally. Pressed record bc I felt like I had no other options and I’m really happy with what came out. Found myself going back to my roots as a dj and blending it with my current style. I always used to pretend I was djing on my fav nyc radio stations as a youngin like la kalle 105.9, kiss fm 98.7, wbls 107.5, hot 97 and power 105 (when they had actual djs and not robots) and one radio station from gta 3 that blew me away, msx fm. hope u enjoy ……

"La humedad es una característica climática que está presente en gran parte de América Latina,  una fuerza vital en la naturaleza, determinante para la cultura y formas de relacionarse; reflejo que encontramos en la música de club y las pistas de baile contemporáneas".

Toby es un productor y DJ de Medellín, Colombia. Su estilo oscila entre ritmos rotos de los 90´s, el electro y fragmentos de reggaetón, con gran énfasis en la atmósfera y la percusión.

Comenzó su carrera en 2018, acercándose a la escena house, electro y techno de su ciudad, Medellín. Más tarde, influenciado por la cultura hip hop y el "cratediggin", Toby desarrolló gran interés por el uso de muestras en sus producciones. Es apasionado por las máquinas de cinta y samplers antiguos que le permiten reconstruir o recrear nuevos sonidos utilizando fragmentos de otras canciones.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: If you can’t find the scene or the vibe or the crew that you’re looking for (or you do but you’re not invited to the table) - build your own. Build the movement you want to see and the like-minded baes will find *you*. That was the whole concept behind Mostbeautifullest/Darkness is Spreading. Also: genres don’t really matter. Throw every single track that moves you in your sets and mixes and let your style develop as a true reflection of you - multifaceted and unique af. Just make them transitions tight. Be wildly creative with it; you don’t have to do it like them. Especially us as Black DJs and producers. This is our scene; we invented it, we shape it, we carry it forward. We are the culture.
