Boxia joins the No Idea’s Original roster with three moody cuts geared for the dancefloor.

Following a commended release on Drumcode, Boxia’s rapid ascension into the spotlight has been envious to say the least. Although the British producer only kick started his production career as Boxia midway into 2015 he’s quickly been acknowledged by the upper echelons of house and techno, with the likes of Adam Beyer, Maya Jane Coles, Eats Everything, Alan Fitzpatrick and NIO founder Huxley showing support.

In ‘Hypnosis’ Boxia combines ethereal synths with a distorted vocal and a twisted hook to generate a mesmerising aesthetic aligned with the track title. ‘Generation’ then puts more emphasis on robust kicks whilst echoing rimshots and sombre atmospherics continue throughout. Finally, the energetic ‘Dance Paradise’ ties up the package with a chopped female vox, wobbly stabs and distant horns.

Bodhi - Hail The Acid

Today's premiere is warm fuzzy club track Dedicate by Cardiff based producer duo Bodhi. Unmistakable UK melodic house vibes hear with a deep soulful piano hook, plenty of funk percussion and deep bass. Out on friday on Huxley's No Idea's Original.

December sees Cardiff house duo Bodhi release ‘Outlook’ EP on Huxley’s burgeoning No Idea’s Original imprint with four thumping originals.

Launched by a release from the label founder and J.Phlip last year, No Idea’s Original has gone on to sign artists such as Pierre Codarin, Sage Caswell, Kalyde and Boxia becoming an established platform for quality house and techno. The imprint now welcomes Bodhi, whose discography spans Ten Thousand Yen, Rinse and Shadow Child’s Food and are also favourites of BBC tastemakers Annie Mac, B.Traits and Monki. The pair’s latest offering sees them deliver a lively offering composed of four-four energy and engrossing atmospherics.

‘Dedicate’ kicks things off with an intoxicating hook that sits beneath melodic synth lines, swelling pads and a delicate vox that burst with vitality. Up next is ‘Hail The Acid’, a wide-eyed acidic number filled with crunchy drums, high-octane vocal samples and an untamed 303 that blend to fiery effect. Marking the halfway point, ‘Outlook’ is a beating slow burner of floating sub-bass and jittering percussion until ‘Whalin’ closes the package demonstrating Bodhi’s formidable production skills with swirling vocals, rapid drum programming and throbbing bass hits generating an overall slick aesthetic.
