I wanted to give you something tangible, solid poetry to hold.  Not to make it right, only to let you know.  You left me to tend to my heart, now it’s broken, I’ve fallen apart.  Missing you, kissing you, in my mind.  Dreaming of a love that died as I reach for the paper to dry my eyes.  I don’t remember the last time I felt this worthless.  It’s alright to be alone.  I can make it on my own.  Critical of this secret mess, can’t escape it nonetheless.  It stays with me like an ailment, clouding the visions in my head.  You waltzed in and out of my life, carving the pain in my heart with your knife.  Cutting me down to size and I’m bleeding out replies.  It’s alright to be alone.  I can make it on my own.

What a lovely surprise Debra came up with when I asked if she would like to collaborate on an earlier released song "Nice to See You".  She couldn't get past "Ode to Joy" when she first started, and I told her "Let's just run with it and see what other Christmas music might go with the song". 2020 was a good year for writing ...finding some old YouTube postings of mine
