"We lost Curley way too early and at a point where he was about to become very well known. He had a unique talent but the thing that got me the most was that we were walking the same musical path. We had arranged to work together in the new year but we sadly lost him on new years eve. I was very lucky to have worked with him on the Sahara technique ep and several times in the Spiral Tribe Studio 23 when we were parked up in Den Haag 1993-94. I was most influenced by a record he did with Yan from Unit Moebius on a small label called Oxalis from near Paris. The record featured a flange/chorus being fed back on itself. I was blown away and have developed this sound ever since. You will hear it on this mix. I dedicate this mix to my fallen brother who i will carry in my heart forever and who I always think of before I start an improvisation !!!

Spiral Tribe’s own 69db presents his Wave Arising LIVE set.
As a founding member of Spiral Tribe and R-Zac, and co-founder of Network 23 Recordings, 69db has been a driving force in the Hardtec and Tribe scenes since the early ’90s. His improvised live sets have pushed boundaries for over three decades.
Wave Arising, blending tribal techno with dub elements, was recently hailed by Resident Advisor as a standout performance at Dekmantel 2024.
This mix comes out of his work for the Wave Arising project he shares with dancer Kynsie. The project is aimed at returning focus to improvisation , music and movement as the main focus of our personal development in life. 

The mix is 100% improvised on the liveset and is about tuning in to our deeper selves and opening a channel within.

Wave Arising (also known for his other project 69db) and Shlagga represent two different eras of rave and alternative party culture. Through Spiral Tribe and Sound Metaphors, Network 23 Recordings, and the Meta, they share a common philosophy built around freedom, community, and counterculture.

Bringing them together for Tour de Trance is a real pleasure. They perfectly embody what resonates with me today when it comes to defining musical movements within the alternative scene. Shlagga blends bass music, post-club, and trance with industrial rock, while Wave Arising crafts hypnotic live soundscapes, ranging from dub to tribal and Break n Bass.

The result: two mixes that are both distinct yet complementary. Shlagga’s is raw and dynamic, showcasing the diversity he brings to a set. Wave Arising takes us on a deep, trippy journey, building tension slowly and beautifully.

It was full comfort as always to play on Noise Control Audio Aparat and stage made/build by Martin Kutenič and his crew.
I still choosing to play vinyl - even it caused imperfections in the set - working on skill progress to give outstanding outputs.

It's time for June's podcast, and it's with great pleasure, honour and respect that we welcome a legend and pioneer of free techno music, a member of the historic Spiral Tribe collective, and Network23, 69DB! 
An undisputed figure in the rave party movement, 69DB has been performing live for over 30 years all over the world, and is now bringing us a new project called Wave Arising; a blend of live improvisation, tribe, breakbeat, UK bass and experimental music, each of his performances is deliberately unique. What's more, this live show was recorded during one of the last nights at One-O-One, the late, great club based in Clermont-Ferrand for some fifteen years, and which was the driving force behind the real electronic music scene in France <3 . Needless to say, this is a very special podcast, combining several generations of what makes electronic music alive, strong and free, and above all, it will continue to resonate for a long time to come!

Noise Ctrl découvre la musique électronique lors des Rave de la fin des années 90, fasciné par les sonorités et les performances live de l'époque. Il se lance dans la production musicale avec divers projets, puis devient DJ à Lyon en 2007, donnant naissance à Noise Ctrl. 
Son univers musical, riche et varié, s'inspire de plusieurs courants emblématiques, notamment la techno de Detroit, avec ses rythmes percutants et mélodies futuristes. Il explore également les textures industrielles allemandes, créant une atmosphère sombre et immersive, ainsi que des éléments d'electronica pour des ambiances mélodiques et expérimentales.
