That's right, the Noise Pop Festival is back, and to get you excited (or help you narrow down with shows to see), we're playing tracks from some of the artists we're most excited for. Noise Pop 2014 Lineup Podcast

My remix involved chopping and looping up Sonny's guitar and adding a new rhythm and some beats. Then i sampled a very short looping section of his voice and assigned it chromatically across the keyboard and added a new chord progression.
I then added a new melody with the same keyboard and added the lead vocals. I also looped a little guitar riff throughout the song.
I also had another vocal pad with the backing vocals chopped and added those throughout the song as well.


Sonny & The Sunsets - I See The Void (Yalls Remix)

This remix turned out better than I expected. As with most remixers I go through each individual instrument track, and try to find something interesting or nice, potentially accidental or something that isn't focused on in the A mix, and bring it into the spotlight or change it in some way. In this case the ooohsss were really cool, so I thought I'd stick with them as a central element, tuned and resampled them. Also the "I see the strangers on the train..." line really stuck out to me, so I thought I'd stick with that moment and try to play with it. The detuned "I see the..." and pitched up "joy" to me were like the singer protagonist seeing folks on the train, seeing a void, but then like a deep-voiced black guy thinking the same thing about him, and maybe a child thinking the same thing. So I just tried to take that moment of togetherness/emptiness bay area folks experience in this group unconscious on the BART, and crystallize it a little more. Loved the hook. Definitely liked a lot of the guitar lines so it was fun to mess with those and resample them into notes for a background melody. The bass line just came to me, and once I made a skeletal arrangement I was basically done. Added some verb to the drums in the outtro and it sounded complete to me. 

I See The Void (PARENTZ strangers on the train remix)

This is my rendition of Exray's song Remember Nothing. I really liked the lyrics in the 1st verse so I decided to mainly focus on those words to chop up so I could replay them in the beat. It has a airy feeling about it, the way the main synth i used peaks in and out of the song but then i decided to make it a fatter dance sound by transitioning the breakdown from 108 bpms to 120 bpm. I'm pleased with the outcome and hope Exray's like what I did with it.
