“Compilation albums have a special place in my heart and to mark our birthday year I really wanted to release a project that was distinctive and exciting. An album that showcases the diversity of the label, the talents of the many artists we work with and ties together the threads and themes the producers explore.

The 22 exclusive tracks here are a perfect snapshot of the sound that Critical is wanting to be at the forefront of : Underground drum and bass in many different forms but always with that cutting edge.

The physical album is a strictly limited edition 6 piece vinyl box set with artwork designed by Steiner Grafik. The box itself is beautiful with silver ink printed on both the inside and outer shell, the records are pressed on 120gsm virgin vinyl and the 6th plate has a special etching to commemorate the birthday.

We have a deluxe version too which is limited to 100 copies. This includes the album box , a special aluminium print of the artwork, a signed poster, a multi page fanzine designed by Studio Yasseen Faik, stickers and a slipmat. (update: Deluxe box sets have now sold out)

In 2016 we grew our high-energy club night into a true drum & bass celebration, Hospitality In The Park. The 10,000 strong party drew together DJs, fans, listeners, singers, live acts and MCs together to showcase every shade and style encompassing a 174 heartbeat. As the Finsbury Park fun continues and round two promising even bigger stage takeovers and a myriad of artist weaponry, we present an equally bursting drum & bass double disc, the ‘Hospitality In The Park 2017’ LP.

In the same vein as our all-day summer special, this huge 70 track mash-up spans across a full 360’ perspective of the genre; representing the established, up and coming, soulful, obscure, liquid, innovative, dark, techy, neuro, jungle style and everything in between.

Included are over 25 brand new exclusives from reputable drum & bass titans Danny Byrd, S.P.Y, Makoto and Keeno, there are VIPs from Metrik and Nu:Logic, remixes from Hugh Hardie, Total science, Camo & Krooked and Calibre, and a ‘Bullet Proof’ banger from Krakota.

Across two mixed CDs we’ve drawn for this year’s surefire summer weapons with Fred V & Grafix, The Prototypes, 1991, High Contrast, The Upbeats, Breakage in the mix. Undeniably one of the most exciting new acts to emerge in 2019 was Viper’s newest signing Millbrook. With a consistent slew of singles proving his incredible ability from the get-go, Millbrook has quickly become a favourite amongst DJs and fans alike. “Rituals” earned the formidable talent early support from UKF, while his collaborative “The Rise” with Vorso & Mad Hed City was a BBC Radio 1 favourite for weeks – and that is just the beginning. A somewhat erratic opening paints the picture of a bustling market, slowly building in depth and intrigue as Millbrook masterfully layers in new sounds in what is quickly becoming his signature approach to drum & bass. Cinematic and incredibly enthralling, Millbrook takes the time to build an entire immersive world before tearing things up with a heavy yet groovy drop in an unexpected way.

Wesley Barbosa, nome por trás do projeto Parallel, é músico (estudou desde os 8 anos de idade) e apreciador de vários gêneros musicais. Desde 2014 na cena, seus sets atravessam os estilos, do comercial ao pouco conhecido, do house aos híbridos e experimentais, tendo como proposta a quebra de conceitos e união dos estilos. Sempre buscando novas influências, tem raízes fortes no trap e no dubstep, adicionando pitadas de outras vertentes não rotuladas, porém sempre buscando as baixas frequências. Hoje trabalha, como vertentes principais em suas seleções, com o bass house limpo e grooveado e o hybrid trap agressivo e acelerado. Fora da discotecagem, já fez trabalhos de curadoria musical e em 2017 passou a ser redator em um site especializado em música eletrônica grave. Seus sets já passaram por casas como Espaço Elevate, Mono Club, Trackers e Club 33.

His sets walk through the styles, from commercial to barely known, from Pop EDM to hybrid and experimental, with the purpose of breaking concepts and joining music styles together. In an unstoppable search for new influences, he has deep roots in trap and dubstep, adding a little bit of future beats, footwork and other unlabeled styles, but always looking forward for the low frequences.
