Executable music entry for Revision 2011, which it eventually won. About 27k including everything, most of it being the movie sample which you probably can't make out unfortunately.

This track was a tricky one to do - I had to go against a lot of my preconceptions of how or why should I make music, and ultimately a lot of the credit must go to http://soundcloud.com/dshmusic for reassuring me in the last minute that I really should just follow my instinct and go ahead with whatever I feel like adding to the tune, instead of being held back by preconceived ideas.

All in all I think this is one of my favorite tracks of what I've done.

This was done in a very short time but it was all the more fun and challenge to work on this - the brief was "slightly retro, uplifting, slowish", so I tried to make it sound like a bit of an 80s sci-fi movie endscroller track. Despite some serious micromanagement to fit the future visuals, I'm very very happy with the end result.

It was only last year that we first introduced the Blackout affiliated production duo Neonlight on this blog. Back then of course, they were preparing to make their inaugural Farringdon visit as part of the Utecht label’s Room Two Takeover in July 2015 and since, the pair have become an intrinsic part of the camp homing their debut LP My Galactic Tale released back in May. The album not only gifts us with a multitude of unique and meticulous d&b cuts but it also perfectly outlines the boys' adept ability to bring musicality, attitude and future forward creativity together.

Lucky for us then, they'll be championing this exact sound on Friday when they once again will join the Blackout gang for their Room Two takeover and so, in aid of the upcoming proceedings hype and to toast the release of their album, we kindly asked if they'd record yet another exclusive promo mix.

“This was the most ambitious thing we ever did together: creating an audiovisual show around our own album, ‘Outer Edges‘. It meant building an audiovisual instrument first (with Roy yfxlab, Merijn Kijkbuiskinderen and Manuel deepred.tv) and thén a show to perform on that instrument. Everything synced, but controlled live, to create one cohesive experience. It was a lot of work, and a lot of stress – especially when the actual album leaked and we found out minutes before going on stage to perform it for the first time – but it is something we are still very proud of. The visuals were all custom made, a lot of them by Nik himself who VJ’d during the set, Thijs brought a part of his modular setup to jam on stage, and Martijn controlled the flow of the songs through Ableton. It felt like the ultimate way to perform our music.” – Noisia
