Niels Binias - Haove

Bleeding Through is an expression of a collective consciousness, a rhythmic journey through the cyclic energy of our vast universe. Noisy Meditation founder Kian Asamoah (AKA Godfather Sage) enters a collaborative space with Ludvig Cimbrelius (Alveol, Ziyal, Purl), gracefully interweaving a variety of musical ideas and influences to create a sound that is uniquely their own. The title track sets the tone with layers of deep synth exploration over a steady post-drum & bass beat. "2016" changes the pace with a beautiful soothing blend of polyrhythmic drums, swirling pads and ambient guitar melodies. "Sorbet" twists it up, combining a weighty rhythm track, soulful keys, dreamy synths and vocals to introduce a futuristic urban groove.

This mix is something I put together after months of loving certain tunes old, medium and and new, and knowing I'd get them all into a mix at some point...and of course the list of tunes kept getting bigger the longer I left it. So here's the final cut... Big love to DaRuff for sending me his dubs. I fell in love with the deepness of Take Me from the first time he contacted me with his first lot of tunes and absolutely loved the hard hitting drums of Ice Walker, especially after the breakdown and feel it fits perfectly with the beautiful drumfunk beats of Rumbleton, Just a Dream. Pause is the perfect tune to start the mix with :) And Big Love to Mantra and Double O... my biggest inspirations and love everything that comes out out on Rupture, always looking to the future of jungle. Drum & Bass Show Ep177 - Label In Focus : Creative Wax '93-'95

I blame my dads DIY attitude to everything... Right down to home surgery when he put a hot needle through his toenail to release the pressure on his cartoon-sized toe after dropping a sheet of ply on his foot!!! That inbuilt way of thinking/doing led me to believe that I could replace my faulty mixer channel fader by myself. Armed with a cheap soldering kit I proceeded to fuck my mixer which now has no left channel fader at all and now needs to go to an expert for a proper fixing. 

In celebration, I dug through the racks for some niceness. This is a mix of 90s jazzstep classics, with anthems and deep cuts from Tango, Lemon D, Peshay, Photek, and more. The jazzstep style helped introduce me to jungle/dnb back in the day.

My feelings have circled around from thinking jazzstep was cheesy, when I was deep into techstep and neurofunk, to appreciating the raw production and creativity of these early tunes. How different they sound from each other contrasts with how formatted the music became as it morphed into liquid funk and then liquid dnb.

The artwork, brilliantly executed by RQ, references the iconic Wipeout 2097 soundtrack, down to the wave slyly evoking the title.

This mix features fallen soldiers Tango, Mark Goodings (Hidden Agenda), Molly Duncan (Intense), and Marcus Intalex, who released "Sky High", which sampled Guru.

Welcome to episode 639 of the Everyday Junglist Podcast!

Episode 639 brings us a mix from talented Producer/DJ, BassboxBen!

Normally, I give a rundown of the mixes I feature, but I'm going to let Ben do the talking on this one: 

It's a vinyl mix (other than my tracks), so the temptation was to pull out all the really rare and expensive tracks, but I decided to go completely the opposite direction and find tracks by some of the biggest artists and labels in Jungle that are still surprisingly relatively inexpensive. There's nothing worse than listening to a mix and finding a track you like that is £500 on discogs! So all these tracks are (and I checked) £20 max for a VG+. A great mix for those just getting into Jungle and Old Skool that don't have the deepest pockets. The tracks by me, Colour Him Jungle & Dark Light, will be released on Steppaz Culture in the next month or so. This is one hell of a mix!! Ben smashed this one!!

BassboxBen (Formally DJ Ben J), started DJing around 92, attended most of the biggest Hardcore/Jungle/DnB raves & club nights throughout the 90's & 2000's. Played for many parties including Raindance, Breaking Science, Beyond Reality, Promised Land, MC Convention, Hysteria & Launch. Owned a record shop in the early 2000's. Ran a DnB record label with label partner Java around 2010 for a few years. Now known mostly now for an extensive record collection & deep appreciation of early 90's vinyl though my Instagram posts & regular Sunday evening Youtube and Twitch vinyl mix streams. Started producing again a couple of years ago and have a release coming on Steppaz Culture which you can hear in the mix. Played at a few parties more recently including Distant Planet, Soba 93, Oblivion and Rupture.
