Nolan Evans aka Dj Positive Friction & Shamash Live has 25 years that span the EDM Scene. From Early Promotion in the late 90s to Djing from 2001 to the present.
Starting as a child, Nolan learned to play the piano and then at age 13 learned how to play the drums. Starting in 1983/84 Nolan started to go to clubs and early techno shows. In the early years, he gained knowledge on how to play turntables and mix.
In 1999 Nolan came into the local Rave scene under the name Dj Positive Friction and still uses this name when asked to play some events under it. As Positive Friction Nolan opened and played with many artists/DJs 1 of the best was Darude back when sandstorm first hit the USA. From that show on Nolan played large events from Boise, Id, Portland, Ore, Seattle Wa, Las Vegas, NV and Events in northern California.
Progressive House and Trance have always been the style Positive Friction played.
As a promoter, Nolan promoted some of the first club events in Boise under the name Higher Frequency @ The Radio Room an event at a club on the 12th floor of 1 of Boise's premier dance clubs. He was also promoted for Musik Freak Records and with this group was able to help bring names such as Planet of the Drums to Idaho and others including SPL / Champagne Drip, Donald Glaude, Baby Anne, D-Fuse and many more.
In 2004/5 Nolan broke from promotion to focus more on Djing. Opened many early festivals from 2004 to 2006 including Esthetic Evolution and Burning Man Events and Decompression Events. Going away from the club and back to the outdoor events.
In 2011 Nolan decided to take a break from djing to learn more about music theory and production. In 2018 he started to take the knowledge and experience of the progressive House scene to start producing his first tracks. The influence of Bedrock, Faded, Outta Limits and many more helps define the style of music produced by Nolan.
Now in 2022, Nolan Evans will be doing his first release on Compatible Records with the help of owner Sebastian Markiewicz. Progressive Beats, lush pads, arp leads are the backbone of Nolan's music and he will continue to progress and produce Dance tracks.
