With his new reference Barro Music Label takes us back to the nineties and offers us a journey through some of the most cutting-edge styles of the time. Driving the time machine we find French producer Yannick Tranchant, better known as Atix, who delivers a five track EP entitled Turn Up The Beat. Atix has been DJing since '94, first hiphop and hardcore, and then he covered the whole musical spectrum of the decade including drum and bass, techno, or breakbeat, influences that he puts in the shaker to create tracks as powerful as the ones included in this Turn Up The Beat. Yannick is the boss of the label Division Virtuel, where he has released many of his works and where he has welcomed the best of the French underground. His records have also appeared on labels such as Boys Noize's BNR Trax and LOT49. Now, he brings us all the power of old school electro and techno in this banger with a 90’s inspired title.
The A-side opens with Turn Up The Beat: with its hip-hop shouts is an electro track with a classic flavour but with an overwhelming modern production. On New Day the complex rhythmic work is striking, and at times you might even think like you're listening to a real drummer. Wipeout sounds like 90s techno, with those synths so characteristic of the style that transport you directly to a rave in the middle of the forest. The flip side doesn't fall behind in terms of heavy material: Face To Face, with its punchy intro, is a hypnotic techno track with a melody that sticks in your brain. A perfect track to spin in the first hours of the morning. To finish, I Hope To Return is an aggressive, hard closing track with repetitive and incisive synths, a perfect sample of how music can make you high.

Atix - Turn Up The Beat

Prepare your ears, because deep in the ground resounds "Hollowcastle" ! Analogy of a mysterious train station. This musical square, similar to a mysterious train station and thought up after a journey, plunges you into a most singular atmosphere. It's the fruit of the duo Capon & Lemon Schaden, both members of the ÖND collective in Rennes, France.

Each track features an assemblage of electronic styles, oscillating between overseas influences, club music and ethereal strings.
In the introduction, these opposites of broken rhythm, techno start and dreamy pad are perfectly reflected.
"Texture222" affirms the EP's driving club feel, adding hypnotic industrial structures.
"Deep Step" transports quasi-organic material into a track with sounds that cross between trance techno and glitchy jungle.
Finally, "Lost In Hollowcastle" brings the journey to a close, blending spacey synths with a driving breakbeat groove.
The four tracks are accompanied by two remixes by artists STRKTUR (Jade's founder) and Nocho (Ethos Records, DLZ, Tannhauser Gate, Texture recordings). "Lost In Hollowcastle" is adorned with gripping electro and well-placed vocals, while "Intro" is reversed, offering a soaring, fast-paced build-up.

Atix comes from the underground scene of the 90s, since his beginnings his mixes vary between techno electro & breaks....
He has signed on different labels such as Tripalium Corp / Barro Music / Boysnoize Records / Avoidant / Bass Agenda Recordings and on its own label Electro Division Virtuel Records.
Behind the name of Atix, do not look for a style but rather a sound or a musical philosophy.
His secret ingredients? Sounds influenced by Detroit and Berlin as well as sounds from across
the Channel but especially his Breaks Electro Techno "musical touch"!
Atix does not only produce artists : he is a performer and warmly shares his musical universe
during his lives and DJ sets. He is musically open, just like his productions. The best French
electronic scene spots have already welcomed him. His main objective: to move the dancefloor and share his pleasure!

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I have EPs and remixs in works for 2024, on various labels and on my two labels Division Virtuel and Y.NN.K, but for now I'm still focused on the vinyl release I made on Barro #009 TURN UP THE BEAT EP

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I don't really have favorite artists & labels , I like to be surprised whether it's a known or unknown artists or labels ; what matters to me is the music. But here are some labels that I currently like ;-) Mechatronica Music, LONE ROMANTIC, AVOIDANT, Unknown To The Unknown,  CULTIVATED ELECTRONICS,NICE & DEADLY

- I've been making music for quite a few years, I like being limited in my equipment, it excites my creativity.

After two powerful volumes that sparked great feedback and brought together a vibrant community of electro lovers, this last part closes the circle with another sharp and eclectic selection of tracks.

This final volume is the culmination of a project that started months ago with a simple idea:  highlight a wide spectrum of contemporary electro. 

Once again, the selection features artists from various backgrounds, styles and energies, all signed by the same conviction and a love for electro.

In the previous episode, the Vibracid technique was discovered as a way to deactivate memories imposed by technocratic elites. 

Now, with VIBRACID 2, its real deployment begins: a series of sonic attacks targeting control systems through rave vibrations.

Each track is a weapon. Each producer, a node of resistance. 'Vibracid Advent,' the single that launched the assault, opens the mini album with acidic force - delivering the first sonic strike that breaks through imposed control. From the acidic and powerful aggression of Calagad 13 (Spain), through the modular precision and acid techno of C.C.O (Contra Communem Opinionem, Switzerland), to the dark, industrial electro of Mokotron (New Zealand). Atix brings the French 90s rave energy; Wicked Wes, from Florida (USA), builds grooves with bifasic rhythms and glitch textures; and Romphea (Greece) closes with distorted breaks exploring chaos and sonic escape.

Careful sound and mastering, and exceptional design for a limited edition of 150 copies on solid red vinyl.

I made this one to capture moments that feel like another lifetime now — when I’d waste my last bit of phone credit texting my mates, making ringtones on my Nokia 5110, and lose whole nights to the sound of crackling vinyl, wicked MCs commanding the room, and DJs moving bodies in the dance.

Those times were some of the best of my life and it’s a time I remember my late brother, Ian, in his element before life got harder. 

This tune has Ian woven into every beat. I can hear his voice now telling me “Loz, this is fucking sick.”

I know he’d love it. I hope you guys too x

Behind the name of Atix, do not look for a style but rather a sound or a musical philosophy. His secret ingredients? Sounds influenced by Detroit and Berlin as well as sounds from across the Channel but especially his House Electro Techno "musical touch"! 

Atix does not only produce artists : he is a performer and warmly shares his musical universe during his lives and DJ sets. He is musically open, just like his productions. The best French electronic scene spots have already welcomed him. His main objective: to move the dancefloor and share his pleasure!

In 2013 ,Atix’s career accelerated and his productions increased tremendously on various labels such as Trashz Recordz Circuit Freq, as well as one of the biggest Bass Music label LOT49 with his Bass Brawl Ep. Early 2014, he signed on CRUX label New Yorker and ... absolute must .... in Spring 2014, BOYS NOIZE produced him on its label BNR TRAX! His title, Drop Zone, praised by international artists & labels, reached the top of the top selling of the label for several months!
